In recent years, there’s a ”certificate craze” on campus, for college students are keen on working for various certificates. Students work hard for CET band 4 and band 6 certificates and some other certificates in their own fields.
Why is there a “certificate craze”? The key reason lies in the pressure of getting a job. As is known to all, it’s not easy to get a decent job nowadays. The precious opportunity is only prepared for the talented people and the talent can only be proved by certificates. Without those small pieces of paper, we can never stand out from the crowd.
As I see it, it is still very important, though the “certificate craze” has arisen just because of the terrible pressure of employment. It is an essential way to gain or strengthen the abilities that we need in the future, such as the ability to command English or something in our own fields. Obviously, it’s not only benefitial for us but also good for the development of our country.

Topic2: On Food Safety

In recent years, the problems of food safety can be heard about at times, which have aroused people’s attention. For example, people got very angry when the poisonous milk products appeared.
Undoubtedly it’s fatal to the public if the problems are put aside. The importance of food safety can be narrowed down to two points. For one thing, without food safety, people are always in danger. We have meat filled with river water, snacks with antiseptics and milk with poison. Such kind of dangerous diets can lead us to illness. People, especially children and the elderly, are the primary victims. For another, the problems may cause damage to the image of our government both at home and abroad. Our people can never trust our civil servants for they can’t even guarantee our health. Furthermore, our dangerous food will never be exported.
From my perspective, those vicious manufacturers should not be forgiven any more. Strict laws should be put forward by our government and heavy punishment must be imposed on them.

Topic3 Avoid Plagiarism

Nowadays, plagiarism has been an increasingly serious problem on campus. Many college students seem to prefer copying other’s idea to writing down their own. And what’s worse, some professors also steal the fruits of others’ without shame.
The phenomenon does no good to everyone. On the one hand, those who have been plagiarized suffer losses because their efforts were not duly recognized. On the other hand, those who plagiarize may lose much more than what they get. If their plagiarism is disclosed, their reputation, position and may be their jobs will vanish. In addition, if this continues, what will the foreigners think of our academic fields? No one will share his works with thieves.
In my opinion, both prevention and correction are needed to avoid plagiarism. For prevention, strict laws should be put forward so that people won’t dare to plagiarize again. For correction, severe punishment should be imposed on those vile thieves so that the justice of our nation will be seen by everyone.

Topic4: My view on writing a blog

Nowadays more and more college students are becoming bloggers. They keep blogs to record their daily lives, to express their feelings and to give their opinions on current affairs.
There has sprung up a heated debate as to whether the phenomenon is positive. Some people say yes. They maintain that people need an outlet for their inner feelings, otherwise they will have mental problems. Furthermore, students can communicate with one anther through this useful tool. However, others believe that keeping blogs will have negative impact on them. It’s like playing a game so that students will try their best to win clicks and replies, which will be harmful to their academic work. Also, if the bloggers only focus on their blogs, they will not be able to communicate with others in reality.
From my perspective, it’s acceptable to keep blogs, but we shouldn’t be crazy about it. What we should do is keep blogs like keeping dairies and when it’s finished, we should log off and never think about it again.

Topic5: Cars and Air Pollution

Recent years have seen a boom in the number of private cars. The phenomenon shows that our life is better and people are now pursuing a much more convenient life style. However, this has been followed by serious air pollution.
The impacts of the cars could be minimized if we adopt the suggestions as follow. To begin with, the government should restrict the manufacture of private cars, so that the price of cars will rise. This will effectively reduce the consumption of cars. Furthermore, we should develop a habit of carpooling. Carpooling is very rewarding. If every four car owners carpool, three fourths of the air pollution will be avoided. In addition, environmental-friendly energy should substitute for petrol. For example, we could use alcohol or electricity to drive our cars.
In my opinion, we should seriously join our efforts to reduce the air pollution, otherwise the extinction of the human will be inevitable.

Topic 6 On Volunteering

Nowadays, more and more people volunteer to serve something like the 29th Olympics and the Expo 2023. Volunteering spirit has widely spread among the young Chinese.
On the one hand, volunteering is beneficial to our society and those in need. For example, many people signed up for serving the Expo 2023 freely. They volunteered to keep the queue in order, lead the way or offer medical service. It was those volunteers that made the exposition a success. Their voluntary work gave our foreign friends a positive image, which indicates a higher spiritual level of Chinese.
On the other hand, volunteering is of great benefit to the volunteers themselves. When doing the voluntary work, people can polish up their social skills and gain a sense of achievement from showing their virtue to those who need it.
In my opinion, volunteering is no doubt rewarding. If we have spare time, we should contribute to this cause.

Topic7: A letter to Computer Hackers

What you have done has brought others a lot of trouble. On the one hand, after your incursion into the computer systems set up by banks, companies or even governments, the confidential information will be leaked out. It will harm our economy, let alone national security. On the other hand, your existence restricts the development of the online business, just because netizens want to keep away from you.
From my point of view, the society has a headache and meantime you don’t have a happy life because of the police. So why not stop committing this crime for a win-win change? People can have a safe and harmony life and so it is with you.

Nowadays, some young people don’t pay enough attention to punctuality. For instance, they may be late for a company meeting, or may not finish their assignment before the deadline.
Perhaps you’re just 5 minutes late, but the influence is indeed negative. To begin with, people who are waiting for you will be unhappy because they’re not respected. If an interviewer is not respected, you’ll lose a chance for a job. And if a friend is not respected, you’ll no longer be trusted. Furthermore, your indifference to punctuality will leave a bad image behind you. The image shows that you have no sense of responsibility, which may ruin your promising life. In addition, time is money. Today, not a minute should be delayed, for it may generate considerable property. If you’re late, you can’t compensate for the loss.
In my opinion, college students should be strictly punctual from now on. It’s a virtue which can make our society a harmonious place to live in.

Going abroad for further study is becoming popular. As most Chinese have opened up their minds, students with good financial supports want to have a try.
Some students regard going abroad as the best way to polish their study up. Higher technology levels, more advanced research facilities and excellent environment appeal to those who would like to get a further development. Also, it can broaden our eyes. However, others insist that we will get enough at home. Domestic education is getting international, so we can also make great progress here. Furthermore, adapting to the completely different culture is anguish and it’s too expensive to study abroad.
In my opinion, if a student can afford to go abroad, he’d better seize the opportunity. Experiencing a different culture is helpful to broaden his horizon, which will be a property in his future.

Topic 10 On Students Being Tutors

Currently, it is becoming popular that students go for some odd jobs like tutoring during their vacation.
It’s really a good idea. On the one hand, students can earn their own bread. The money they can make may be not considerable, but at least with it we can afford our books or may be part of our tuition. On the other hand, being a tutor makes our holidays colorful. In terms of the long and hollow vacation, tutoring is a smart alternative.
From my point of view, doing odd jobs is no doubt meaningful. They polish up our social skills, which is most helpful to our future jobs. In addition, with more acquaintances, we’ll know more about our society, the threshold to the society will be lowered when we’ll truly step across it.

Topic11: On TV Shows

Recent years has witnessed people’s growing interest in TV shows. TV shows like Super Girls and Dream in China is becoming popular.
Some people hold a positive view. They think it good, for these programmes provide a stage for everyone. We can sing and we can dance because it’s the place to show our specialties. There aren’t many approaches like TV shows for us to standing out from the crowd. Meanwhile, that we show in front of a camera is surely a great experience. However, there are still many other people opposing these TV shows. They argue that the participant can waste too much energy, time and money, let alone the fans. The boom in the development of TV shows indicates our hollow spirits.
In my opinion, TV shows are not bad at all, since they can diversify our lives. But as a student, we shouldn’t be crazy about them, for excessive devotion may ruin our study.
