When I read and found them hardly, I asked my English teacher for help, and finally understood a whole article. When my turn came, I confidently stood on the platform and explained it quite good. The course benefited him a lot. 故将good改为well。 Our government is trying hard to build an energy-saving society. It is somebody’s duty to work hard and reach this goal. Besides, not everybody has realized the important of it. Take our school for example. Sometime we can see that lights and computers are still on after class. Some students even forget to turn on the tap after using it and have water run all the time. Our papers are printed on only one side, which causing much waste. It’s time we did something to avoid this kind of waste. Firstly, make sure that all the light and other electric facilities turned off when we leave the rooms. Try to form the habit of turning off the tap immediate after using it. What’s more, papers should be printed on both sides and reused if possible.[ 参考答案: 三、 阅读理解 21. 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。 Many private institutions of higher education around the country are in danger. Not all will be saved, and perhaps not all deserve to be saved. There are low-quality schools just as there are low-quality businesses. We have no duty to save them simply because they exist. But many promising institutions that deserve to continue are threatened. They are doing a fine job educationally, but they are caught in a financial squeeze, with no way to reduce rising cost or increase income significantly. Raising tuition doesn’t bring in more income, for each time tuition goes up, the enrollment goes down, or the amount that must be given away in student aid goes up. Schools are bad businesses, whether public or private, not usually because of mismanagement but because of the nature of the enterprise. They lose money on every customer, and they can go bankrupt either from too few students or too many students. Even a very good college is a very bad business. It is such colleges, promising but threatened, that I worry about. Low enrollment is not their chief problem. Even with full enrollment, they may go under. Efforts to save them, and preferably to keep them private, are a national necessity. There is no basis for arguing that private schools are inherently (固有地) better than public schools. There are many examples to the contrary. Anyone can name state universities and colleges that rank as the finest in the nation and the world. It is now inevitable that public institutions will be dominant, and therefore diversity is a national necessity. Diversity in the way we support schools tends to give us a healthy diversity in the forms of education. In an imperfect society such as ours, uniformity of education throughout the nation could be dangerous, In an imperfect society, diversity is a positive good. Supporters of public higher education know the importance of sustaining private higher education. 36. According to the author’s opinion schools are bad businesses because of ________. A. mismanagement                       B. too few students            C. too many students                       D. the nature of schools 37.     The author used the phrase “go under” (Sentence 3, Para. 3) to mean ________. A. get into difficulties                       B. have low enrollment C. have low tuition                        D. bring in more money 38.     We can reasonably conclude from this passage that the author made an appeal to the public in order to support _______ A. public institutions                     B. private schools C. uniformity of education                 D. high quality of education 39.     Which of the following statements is NOT true? A. High-quality private schools deserve to be saved. B. If the tuition is raised, the enrollment goes down. C. There are many cases to show that public schools are better that private schools. D. Private schools have more money than public schools. 40.     Which of the following ways could possibly save private schools? A. Raising tuition.                        B. Full enrollment. C. National awareness and support.         D. Reduction of rising cost. 参考答案:     36-40:  DABDC 22.     The globe is facing a “tidal wave” of cancer, and restrictions on alcohol and sugar need to be considered, say World Health Organization scientists. It predicts the number of cancer cases will reach 24 million a year by 2035, but half could be prevented. The WHO said there was now a “real need” to focus on cancer prevention by cutting down smoking, obesity and drinking.     The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) said there was an “alarming” level of ignorance about diet’s role in cancer. Fourteen million people a year are diagnosed with cancer, but that is predicted to increase to 19 million by 2025, 22 million by 2030 and 24 million by 2035. The developing world will bear the worst of the extra cases. Dr Chris Wild, the director of the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, told the BBC: “The global cancer burden is increasing quite markedly, due predominately to the ageing of the populations and population growth. If we look at the cost of treatment of cancers, it is spiralling out of control, even for the high-income countries. Prevention is ly critical and it’s been somewhat neglected.”     The WHO’s World Cancer Report 2014 said the major sources of preventable cancer included: smoking; infections; alcohol; obesity and inactivity; radiation, both from the sun and medical scans; Air pollution and other environmental factors; delayed parenthood, having fewer children and not breastfeeding. For most countries, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. However, cervical cancer dominates in large parts of Africa. One of the report’s editors, Dr Bernard Stewart from the University of New South Wales in Australia, said prevention had a “crucial role in fighting the tidal wave of cancer which we see coming across the world”. He said human behaviour was behind many cancers such as the sunbathe “until you’re cooked evenly on both sides” approach in his native Australia. There was a similar argument to be had with sugar fuelling obesity, which in turn affected cancer risk. Meanwhile, a survey of 2,046 people in the UK by the WCRF suggested 49% do not know that diet increases the risk of developing cancer. A third of people said cancer was mainly due to family history, but the charity said no more than 10% of cancers were down to inherited genes. Amanda McLean, general manager for the WCRF, said: “It’s very alarming to see that such a large number of people don’t know that there’s a lot they can do to significantly reduce their risk of getting cancer. In the UK, about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented through being a healthy weight, eating a healthy diet and being regularly physically active.” “People can cut their risk of cancer by making healthy lifestyle choices, but it’s important to remember that the government and society are also responsible for creating an environment that supports healthy lifestyles.” 67. What’s the main reason for the increasing of cancer according to Dr Chris Wild?    A. The lack of the cost of treatment of cancers.    B. The problems of population ageing and growth.    C. The high rate of cancer of high-income countries.    D. The over-prevention of various cancers. 68. What can we learn from Paragraph 4?    A. Radiation from the sun won’t lead to any cancer.    B. In order to find cancer early one should receive as many medical scans as possible.    C. It is better to feed babies with cow milk instead of breastfeeding.    D. A healthy diet and regular exercise are helpful to prevent cancer. 69. What is the best title of the passage?    A. The Tidal Wave of Cancer is Coming B. Stopping Smoking Helps Stop Cancer    C. Healthy Lifestyles to Prevent Cancer    D. Healthy Eating, Away from Cancer 70. How can we prevent cancer according to the passage?    a. By stopping smoking. b. By drinking less alcohol.    c.
