Ⅰ. 教材内容介绍及教学目标
本课时是一节阅读理解课,内容是一篇由泰国学生写的关于如何拯救大象的网站文章。本课时应达成的教学目标有:
1. 学生能掌握本课时的新单词,能读通阅读文章,把握大意并完成相关阅读理解任务。
2. 能掌握归纳文章、段落大意的阅读技巧,训练阅读获取信息的能力,并能进行仿写练习。
3. 能认识到动物和人类生活在同一地球上,紧密相关,爱护动物就是爱护我们人类自己。
Ⅱ. Teaching Steps
1. Warming up
① play a guessing game: guess what the animal is according to the descriptions
② check the endangered animals and lead to the topic of this class: the elephant
2. Pre-reading : learn to read the new words
3. While reading
① the first reading: read loudly to get the general meaning, then finish three tasks to have a check: Where are the elephants from? Which one is the best title? And match the main idea with each paragraph. (reading tips)
② the second reading: read silently and carefully to get the detailed information, then answer three questions which can help students understand the article better
③ the third reading: read together for a consolidation, after this reading, students will have a group work
④ group work: first finish the mind map in 2c, and then try to retell the article according to the mind map (students should work in groups)
4. Post-reading
An extended activity: After reading this website article, try to write another one named Let’s Save the Pandas. Some useful information will be provided after a discussion.
