Teaching Style
Three focus
1) Teaching style
2) Dressing
3) Attitude
What we are taking about is teaching style. I will discuss it from three aspects, teaching style, dressing and attitude.
In summarize, I divide teaching style into two opposite aspects, warm, nice and tough, strict.
For me ,I think the former way is more suitable for students. Marva Collin is a good example. She is a teacher full with love in her students. She encourages them, gives them confidence, tell her students not to afraid to make mistake. Everyone have self-respect. We might all have a feeling when we were children that “I was afraid the teacher would holler ,I was afraid I would get hit with a ruler , I was afraid the teacher would make everyone laugh at me and so on.” If a child get overmuch critics, he will become introverted and lack of confidence.
Next, we are going to talk about teachers’ dressing.
I prefer to casual and comfortable dressing style for the reason that it can give the students an impression that the teacher is kind and amiable.
I hold the thought that class need a relaxed and gentle atmosphere, not serious or sober.
Students learn more in a happy and comfortable atmosphere. If the teacher is sober, it will make the students tension and anxiety.
And for the teacher, casual dressing will be more fitted and cozy,it will helpful for the teacher perform well.
Finally, we are going to talk about two different attitude. One is student-centered approach, another is teacher-centered approach.
While teachers are an authority figure in this model, teachers and students play an equally active role in the learning process. Students are not“empty vessels” whose primary role is to passively receive information (via lectures and direct instruction) with an end goal of testing and assessment. The teacher’s primary role is to coach and facilitate student learning and overall comprehension of material. Student learning is measured through both formal and informal forms of assessment, including group projects, student portfolios, and class participation. Teaching and assessment are connected; student learning is continuously measured during teacher instruction.
No two teachers are alike, and any teachers with classroom teaching experience will agree that their teaching is unique. Teachers need to account for students’ various learning abilities and must adapt their teaching style to benefit each individual student and the classroom as a whole.
