III. 语言点/句型
1. long ago, there was a poor farmer called Fred.
article +n+ called …..意为“一个叫….的…..”
e.g.:That is the boy called Jack.
The film called ‘Swan Lake’ is my favourite.

2.Although we’re old, we work in the fields every day.
although (=though)是一个“关联词”，相当于汉语中的“ 虽然……但是”，用来引导让步状语从句, 只是 although 比 though 更为正式。
e.g.: Although / Though it was raining, we went there.
= It was raining, but we went there.
注意：although和though均不能与连词but出现在同一个句子中, 即有although 就没有but；有but 就没有although。

3. Although Maths is difficult for Kitty, she never gives it up.
give up + n. / V-ing,遇到代词it 或them时，则需用give it / them up。
e.g.: It took my dad ten years to give up smoking.He should give it up earlier.

4. I can give you a big new house.
give someone something=give something to someone 把某物给某人
e.g.: Dad gave a puppy to me as my 10th birthday present.
=Dad gave me a puppy as my 10th birthday present.

keep someone/something+adj. 保持… 同样用法动词有make/find
e.g.: Do you know how to keep the bowls clean from dust?
Jack lost a watch ,which made his mother very angry.
You can find the flat very clean and tidy.

6. I wish you happiness and health forever.
wish作动词，意为“祝愿”， “wish + sb. + n.”这一结构来表达自己对别人的祝愿。
e.g. I wish you good luck forever.
wish还可以作名词， 意为“愿望，希望”。
e.g.:I’d like to give you three wishes.

7. We are going to vote for model students.
vote for 意为“表决(支持)；投票(赞成)”。
e.g.: When will we vote for monitor of our class?

8. Although Jill lives far away from school, she is never late for class.
be late for “……迟到”。
e.g.：be late for work上班迟到, be late for school上学迟到。

9. Although Joe is busy with his studies, he exercises regularly.
be busy with +sth. / be busy doing sth. “忙于(做)某事 ”。
e.g.: He is busy with his lessons.
Students are busy getting ready for the open day.

10. Although we’re poor, we live happily.
Although Joe is busy with his studies, he exercises regularly.
happily/ regularly 是副词分别修饰live/exercise 行为动词+副词
e.g.：John has been crying sadly. What’s the matter with him?
