过 去 进 行 时
（一)概念：表示过去某段时间或某一时刻正在发生或进行的行为或动作.可从两个方面来理解： 
①过去某个时间正在发生的动作 例：
He was cooking at six last night。 昨天晚上六点，他正在做饭。  
②过去某段时间正在发生的动作 例：
I was staying here from March to May last year。 去年从3月到5月，我一直呆在这里。
（二)基本结构:was/ were + doing  
（三）与过去进行时连用的时间状语，常见的有 
at nine last night/  at that time= then/ at this time yesterday  /
或有when the teacher came in/  while he was reading的提示 
（四）过去进行时的时间状语 :when， while  
①while表示一段时间，因此它所引导的状语从句中，谓语动词常用进行时态，如：
When/While we were having supper， the light went out。 我们正在吃饭时灯熄灭了。
②when用作并列连词时，主句常用进行时态，从句则用一般过去时,表示主句动作发生的过程中，另一个意想不到的动作发生了。 如：
I was walking in the street when someone called me。 我正在街上走时突然有人喊我。
