The brick red playground no longer looked bright as the sunset. Strangely, the playground was 53 of sound although it was filled with hundreds of people, and the only noise was my own breathing. I was on my 54 round of running. Was my physical energy used up? If not,
55 would it be? I thought about it but then realized that I didn’t care. I had to finish the run, since it was part of my senior high school entrance(入口) examination.“Fifteen seconds left!” The sentence reached me as if it came from somewhere far away. At the age of 84, Elsie Eiler is still the mayor(镇长)of her hometown of Monowi in the Midwestern United States. But not only is she the mayor, she is also the clerk and the secretary.
This isn't because she is the oldest woman in the town, but she is the only person that still lives in the town. Monowi had a population of 150 in the 1930s. As more and more people moved away in search of jobs in other towns and cities, the population dropped to 18 in 1980. Finally, there were only two people left in Monowi. They were Eiler and her husband. Eiler decided to stay in the town after her husband died in 2004, which made her the only resident(居民)of the town.
Eiler lives alone, but she is not lonely. She works twelve hours a day in a bar in Monowi. This is the only business in town; the post office and the three shops closed between 1967 and 1970, followed by the school in 1974.
She served hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks in her bar. Most of her customers live within 20 to 30 miles, she has known them for much of her life. Others drive 200 miles from nearby cities to have a drink or play cards in the bar. There are also visitors coming from around the world to see her.
Eiler says that she is happy to live in Monovi because she grew up there. She also keeps a list of the abandoned(废弃的)houses there, for someone who wants to move into one of them and doubles the town’s population.

It was again time for my school autumn field trip. As always, I was made group leader by my teacher, working with another male student to make sure everyone in the group didn’t go missing or play computer games when they were supposed to be lining up.
Anyway, what could I have done? Should I have told the teacher that I was too scared to be a leader? Probably not. So I just peacefully accepted the fact. On the day of the trip as we all got on the bus, I managed to announce loudly to my schoolmates that it was time to begin our trip to the Great Wall.
Organizing the students on the school bus was tiring. Students didn't feel like talking or playing games, because our class was divided into several groups, with each group taking a bus with students from another class. As none of the students really knew each other, everyone was quiet... What’s more, they couldn't eat, drink or play with cellphones on the bus. But I saw some boys drinking milk. Because I'm always kind to my classmates, the boys were friendly to me and didn’t treat me as they did to the male group leader. They just nodded at me, finished drinking the milk and put it away. Should I have pointed out they behaved wrong? After I thought about it, I decided that I shouldn’t break the rules. Nervous and embarrassed, I touched the classmate sitting right next to me and asked her in a low voice to tell the boys next to her not to drink their milk.
Just from being in charge of the group on this short bus trip, I could feel the tiredness and difficulty of being a leader. After the journey was finally over, at least I'd made a little progress to speak out bravely.
66. As group leaders we should make sure .
A. everyone knows each other
B. nobody in the group will get lost
C. everyone in the group lines up all the time
67. The students were allowed to on the bus.
A. play games B. drink milk C. play with cellphones
68. The male group leader probably is a person.
A. shy B. strict C. popular
69. The underlined sentence I decided that I shouldn’t break the rules means .
A. I shouldn't drink milk
B. I should allow the boys to drink milk
C. I should stop the boys drinking milk
70. After this trip, I would .
A. never be a group leader again
B. always point out others’ bad actions
C. not be afraid to speak out in front of others

British roads are some of the safest in the world. A study in 2010 that compared more than 30 countries found that 3.8 people per 100,000 died in traffic accidents in the UK. This number was lower than any other country. So, what did British drivers do to achieve this? What are they doing differently? Here are five top tips for drivers who are planning a trip to the UK.
● People in Britain drive on the left side of the road. In fact, a long time ago people drove on the left in most countries, but now only a few countries have this. Don’t forget that this also means you must drive the other way around roundabouts(坏岛).
● British people feel that waiting should be fair for everybody. If you are in a line of traffic, then don’t try to push past the cars in front of yours. This is called “cutting in line”. You must wait for your turn, or people may get angry with you.
● Pedestrians (行人)must stop at traffic lights when they are red. In many countries, it is OK to go past red lights if you are turning a corner or if there isn’t any other traffic around. In the UK you could have lots of trouble if you do this.
● If another driver flashes their car’s lights at you then they are probably trying to tell you that they will wait for you to go first. British people don’t like to use their car horn (唰叭) much and they think people who do are quite impolite.
● If you get into a traffic accident , then don’t try to pay the po
