Anna Heusler and a group of cyclists were riding towards Adelaide on Friday when they spotted a koala sitting in the middle of the road. It wasn't the first time that Heusler had seen koalas out and about on the roads while riding--but this koala's reaction amazed her. "We stopped the bikes to help the koala get off the road, otherwise it would get hit by cars. But the koala walked up to me very quickly. It was obviously very thirsty," Heusler told CNN.
"As I was giving it a drink from our water bottles, it climbed up onto my bike. I've never seen a koala move so quickly. They're usually not pet animals, they stay up in the trees and people admire them from afar."
"None of us have ever seen anything like it. We gave it as much as we could and then made sure it was off the road and back to safety." Heusler shared the adorable yet heartbreaking images to her blog, showing the koala drinking water from her bottle. "Australian Koala Bears suffered severe thirst in a heatwave. This koala walked right up to me as I was going down and climbed up onto my bike while I gave it water," she captioned the image. The video has since gone viral online, ranking top of millions of views on social media around the world. "There's nothing but tragedy in Australia. It's burning out of control" Heusler said. "I hope this incident helps spread awareness."
Severe fires in the Adelaide Hills have burned 25,000 hectares of land, leaving koalas searching for food and water hard. Adelaide Koala Rescue's Jane Brister is currently caring for 46 koalas that have had their homes destroyed. She said the centre doesn't normally care for this many koalas at once and the increase was due to the fires. "A big problem we're noticing now is that koalas are coming in starving... there's just no food," Ms Brister said. Koalas eat eucalyptus (桉树) leaves--but thousands of trees have been destroyed by fires, Firefighters now across the country are taking time to care for wildlife when they find them before handing them to the correct authorities.

A.It was hit seriously by a car. B.It sat still in the middle of the road.

A.To remind people of the naughty koala. B.To get more likes online.
C.To spread people's awareness of the fire. D.To stress the climate change.
27.What does Jane Brister's work focus on now?
A.Putting out the forest fire. B.Looking for koala babies.
C.Protecting the endangered trees. D.Looking after starving koalas.

More than a third of small towns in Georgia lost population in the last year alone, highlighting the challenges of reviving rural areas. New census (人口普查) estimates show that Camilla fell below 5,000 residents. Sparks fell below 2,000, and Milan fell to 661 residents for a loss of 7% of its population. All three towns are in South Georgia.
Many of the young people in these communities graduate from high school and don't come back. "They go to college, whatever, they don't come back," said David Bridges, head of its Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation in Tifton.
Meanwhile, Georgia's cities are growing, having no problem drawing people from small towns and other cities. Atlanta grew more than 1% in the past year and is now nearing the half-million-resident mark.
The trend of people moving from rural to urban areas is hardly a new one—it's been going on worldwide for more than a century. But continued population losses have raised questions about whether rural areas ca do anything to reverse the tide.
Rural residents can face a number of challenges including access to good jobs, transportation and health care. Manufacturing jobs have dried up in many places, while modernization and new technology means fewer people are needed for farming. And many people are deciding to have smaller families than was typical a century ago.
"The older generation is dying, the younger generation is moving away, and because there are perceived to be fewer business opportunities, financial opportunities, etc.. It's very challenging to get inbound population." Bridges said.
Demographers (人口学家) expect the shift from rural to urban to continue. But there are some bright spots in rural America still. Jackson County near Athens was recently named one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation by the Census Bureau. Amazon opened a large fulfillment center there a couple of years ago. And Young Harris, near the Georgia-North Carolina border, has grown by more than 80% since 2010.
28.What happened to the small towns mentioned in Paragraph 1?
A.Their sizes grew rapidly. B.Their population declined.
C.They drew more residents. D.They raised challenges to locals.
29.Which of the following best explains "reverse the tide" underlined in Paragraph 4?
A.People move from rural to urban areas.
B.Small towns draw people from cities.
C.Rural areas develop their economy quickly.
D.Population continue to grow in urban areas.
30.Why is David Bridges quoted?
A.To offer more evidence. B.To draw a conclusion.
C.To show his contribution. D.To give part of the reasons.
31.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.Jackson County is the best town in the US.
B.Rural towns will keep growing to larger ones.
C.Others will follow the lead of these bright spots.
D.There can be measures to help rural towns grow.

The year 2020 is stormy, but rainbows are everywhere. Across the COVID-19 stricken world, bright and happy rainbows have become window colors and choices on store shelves.
The rainbows started appearing all over Italy within a few days of schools closing for the first lockdown, back in March. Crayon (蜡笔) drawings were taped to the inside of windows; poster-painted banners hung from balconies.
When the pandemic came to Britain, the rainbows came too, with the Italian message of positivity transforming into thanks to the NHS (National Health Service). Then, during the months of lockdown, the rainbows moved inside our homes, with a craze for arranging books by colour in pursuit of an aesthetically(美学)pleasant Zoom background.
In April this year, the largest cabin hospital in the Philippines was completed, divided into six wards of different colors. The colors of the rainbow were not only pleasing to the eye, but also conveying a positive and optimistic spirit to patients.
The rainbow is to 2020 what "keep calm and carry on" was to 1939. And just as "keep calm and carry on" began as a public information campaign but became a tea towel industry, what began as a gesture of hope is now a big business. John Lewis reports that a rainbow bauble is an early festive bestseller. Tracksuit(运动服)enthusiasts are sitting out the second lockdown in Olivia Rubin's £150 rainbow stripe tracksuits.
Optimism is the hottest commodity (商品) of 2020. But some people are irritated by the way consumer culture commercializes the human experience, packaging our hopes and dreams as if they were just another product in the warehouse. But the fashion editor-turned-designer JJ Martin says, "It's great to have the colourful dress, but the magic of a rainbow isn't really about the pot of gold. What actually counts is the flame you turn on inside yourself."
32.Where might people see the rainbow?
A.In the study with the books sorted by color.
B.In the Italian message of thanks to the NHS.
C.On the banners of the schools under lockdown.
D.On the outside of Britain's largest cabin hospital.
33.What does the underlined word "irritated" in Paragraph 6 probably mean?
A.Fascinated. B.Angered. C.Challenged. D.Embarrassed.
34.What do the campaigns in 1939 and in 2020 have in common?
A.They ended up being commercialized.
B.They helped people out of the lockdown.
C.They conveyed thanks to the medical staff.
D.They displayed a feature of the towel industry.
35.What's the best title for the passage?
A.2020:a stormy year B.Rainbows:the magic colors
C.2020:to keep calm and carry on D.Rainbows:to lift people up

Ways to Get Your Kids into Nature

Let's find out together." is a wonderful way to get the ball rolling. Be open to a mutual adventure and allow your curious inner child to come out while you explore nature with your children.
