Good morning, distinguished professors, teachers, and schoolmates, thank you for attending the oral defense. I came from English class 1, my NO. is ***, and I am***. My supervisor is WXX. With his sincere and intellectual guidance, I have finished my paper. Now, it is the show time. I will present my efforts to you and gratefully welcome any correction.

The title of my paper is Comparative Study on Mark Twain and Lu Xun’s Humor. I choose this as my topic due to the following reasons.
Firstly, I am very interest in the study of humor, I think humor can make people laugh, and only the clever people know how to use humor, and I want be a people with wisdom and sense of humor.
Secondly, I have read several works written by mark twain and lu xun, and study this can help me a better understand of them, and their humor.
Last but not the least, many books today tell us, our life is good, the love is good, the sociality is good, but in fact, our sociality have both good and bad, we must know both the good and bad of the sociality, because we live in the sociality, in mark twain and luxun’s work, this two writers point out the bad of the sociality in a special way with humor.
For the above facts, I select the subject of Comparative Study on Mark Twain and Lu Xun’s Humor as the title of my paper.

I hope by studying, we can know more about humor, humor theory, and know more about luxun and mark twain, and the humor that they used in common. 

  Next, I will present it to you. Here is an outline of my presentation. This paper consists four parts.
Part I presents an introduction of humor and humor theory.
Part II is integrant character of humor in mark twain and lu xun’s novel, and analysis from their works to find out the way that they use humor in common.
Part III explains the three aspects of the inner quality of humor in Mark Twain and Lu Xun’s Novel，that is, Simple Humor, Pungent Humor, Desolate Humor.
The Last part, in the conclusion, I make some summarizes of the previous parts and emphasizes the significance of the argument of the thesis again.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisor, Professor ***, for his intellectual guidance, invaluable instructions and comments on my thesis. It is with his valuable assistance that I have finally accomplished this thesis. And thanks for all your teachers’ listening!
