要：如今越来越多的国人选择出国旅游或者是留学，美剧、英剧等英语剧在我国也越来越流行，人们接触到英语俚语的机会在不断的增加，但是很多人在翻译英语俚语的时候存在诸多问题，这样就使得人们无法正确理解英语俚语所表达的意思。本文基于这个目的，先是介绍了英语俚语的定义以及特点，接着分析了在翻译过程中常见的问题，最后提出翻译的方法，希望在翻译英语俚语的时候正确使用这些方法，准确的翻译出俚语所要表达的意思。 关键词：英语俚语；翻译技巧；俚语特点 1. 引言当前随着国际间关系越来越紧密，很多人都会选择出国旅游或者是游学，大部分都会选择欧美地区，那么就免不了和当地人接触了。在欧美地区，英语作为主要的语言，被用于日常的生活中，但是日常生活并不是严肃的文学作品，日常交谈更加具有口语化，而这个时候英语俚语的使用次数就会增多。英语俚语的意思与英语单词本来的意思是不相同的，这就给听者的翻译工作造成了很大的障碍，不利于交流。另外，如今大量的美剧、英剧也受到越来越多国人的喜爱，在观看美剧或者是英剧的时候，也会听到很多俚语，如果不能够理解俚语真实表达的意思，那么就不能够理解这个情景设置了，这对于观众欣赏电视剧也是不利的。英语俚语与标准词语存在差异，相对于标准词语来说，英语俚语“具有较强的开放性、生动新颖性、带有感情色彩与修饰色彩、具有简洁性”1。正是因为英语俚语具有这样的特点，所以俚语在翻译上更加的复杂多变，这也就导致译文经常会存在错误，为此在翻译英语俚语的时候需要“准确理解原文、再现原文特色、再现说话者的个性”2。2. 英语俚语概述2.1 英语俚语的定义英语俚语在以英语作为官方语言的国家经常使用，但是关于英语俚语的定义在学术界并没有一个统一的标准。最知名、使用频率最高的一个解释来自于牛津现代高级英汉双解词典，在这本词典中明确表示俚语是“一般用于朋友或同事间的谈话，但是不能够用于写作或正式场合的字词；特别指某一阶层人士的习惯用语”3。说起俚语，总是不可避免的联想到暗语、黑话、行话，这是因为最早的俚语源自于暗语、黑话以及行话，不过后来随着俚语的不断发展，俚语与这三者有了很大的差别。暗语指的是“某一阶层、宗派等所用的惯用语、隐语或术语，目的是为了保守秘密防止他人知道而采用的一种语言形式”4；黑语指的是“为数很少的人才能理解的语言”5；行话指的是“因形式不好或者说得不好而让人很难懂的话”6。英语俚语的来源非常的广泛，除了上文所述的暗语、黑话、行话，还源自于其他语种或者是从标准词汇转变而来。但是俚语更新换代的速度也非常的快，其具有“流行性”的特点。2.2 英语俚语的特点2.2.1 具有较强的开放性 英语俚语开放性非常的强，不单单可以吸收标准词汇，还可以吸收其他国家的语言。例如“drag”这个词语是一个典型的标准词语，表示“拖、拽”，但是在俚语里面，可以使用这个词语来表示“街道”7。再就是“sotto voce”，这个词语来自于意大利语，代表着“低声地”的意思。有些汉语拼音也能够发展为俚语，“shanghai”这个汉语拼音代表的是“上海”这座城市，而在俚语之中可以使用这个来表示“绑架”的意思。很多外来词汇先是出现在俚语之中，等到人们熟悉之后就会成为标准词汇的一部分8。最典型的例子当属“cold war”，代表着“冷战”的意思。这个词语诞生于第二次世界大战之后，那个时候苏联与美国之间展开了冷战，人们使用这个词汇来表达冷战的意思。不过，该词汇刚刚诞生之初是俚语而不是标准词汇，不过随着时间流逝，这个词语成为了标准词汇的一部分。2.2.2 生动新颖性如果经常使用标准词汇的话，时间一长就会导致其枯燥乏味，不再生动新颖，而俚语相对于标准词语来说就会显得生动新颖多了。使用英语来表示嗜酒的人，可以使用“heavy drinker”或者是“drunkard”这样的标准词语来表达，也可以使用“bottle -man”这个俚语词来表示9。相对于前者来说，后者更加的形象贴切，也更加的生动新颖。“Bottle -man”可以翻译为“酒桶”，自然就生动形象的表现出了嗜酒的含义。21世纪科技发展迅速，电子产品比比皆是，所以很多人都离不开手机，那么就可以使用“phone freak”来形容那些手机控；当形容那些搞不清楚状况的人的时候，可以使用“dog watching TV”；形容宅男、宅女可以使用“otaku”以及“otake girl”。俚语的生动新颖来自于俚语不断的变化，如果时尚那样并不是一成不变的。有些俚语在使用的过程中会逐渐被淘汰，但是如果使用较多那么就会变成标准词汇；随着新鲜事物的出现，新的俚语也会随之出现。俚语更新换代的速度使得俚语相对于标准词语来说更加的生动新颖。2.2.3 带有感情色彩、修饰色彩 英语俚语往往带有很强烈的感情色彩或者是修饰色彩，能够真实的表达出话语者的情感。例如情侣之间称呼的时候有“honey”与“darling”两个词语可以使用，不过前者相对于后者来说更加的亲密，表示“亲爱的，宝贝”等意思10。除了感情色彩之外，还有修饰色彩，修饰色彩指的是委婉、滑稽、讽刺等意思。例如，“baby-snatcher”，其中的“snatcher”指的是“绑架者”，而这个词语直译的话就是“婴儿绑架者”，但是在俚语中却表示“老牛吃嫩草”，代表那些与比自己年龄小很多的人结婚的人，这是一种诙谐的表达方法11。 2.2.4 具有简洁性英语俚语最大的一个特点就是简洁性，往往能够使用一个词语来表达很长的意思。例如“lifer”，简简单单的一个词语，但是其表达的意思却是“终身监禁或终身监禁的人”。当然了，想要表达这个意思也可以使用标准词汇来表示，其表述为“life sentence or a man serving a life sentence”，相对于“lifer”而言，标准词汇的表达繁琐很多，不利于表达，因此简洁的俚语就应运而生，而随着俚语的使用频率逐渐提高，其往往会成为标准词汇的一部分。2.2.5 数量繁多英语俚语的数量非常的多，往往表达一个意思可以使用很多俚语。美国出版了美国俚语词典，在这本词典之中如果查找“醉了的”俚语，那么可以找到300多个。俚语之所以数量繁多，是因为不同亚文化群体针对同一个事物创造了不同的俚语。例如表示“混血女郎”，黑人会使用“banana”这个词语，但是白人会使用“yellow girl”这个词语12。俚语之中数量最多的词语是和性、食物等相关的，这是因为这些词语与人们的生活密切相关，自然使用频率也是最高的。3. 英语俚语的翻译英语的翻译方式有很多，包括直译、音译、意译等等，在翻译英语俚语的时候自然也是可以使用这些翻译方式的，不过相对于普通的英语翻译来说，英语俚语的翻译更加的困难，这是因为俚语具有上述五种特点。因为英语俚语的翻译方式有很多，在这里只是介绍意译这种翻译方式。3.1 意译论述所谓的意义，指的是联系上下文以及语境来判断其表达的真正含义进而进行翻译13。如果在翻译的时候两种语言之间存在较大的差异，不能够直接找到相对应的表达，这个时候就可以使用意译这种翻译方法。除此之外，有些英语俚语所蕴含的内容丰富多彩，其真正的意思甚至是与表面意思完全相反，那么这个时候直译就不能够表达出其本来的意思，就需要采用意译的方式。在英语俚语众多的翻译方式中，使用频率最高的就是意译，这是因为英语俚语涉及到了使用的语言环境以及文化，所以很多时候直接翻译并不能够表达出真正的含义，更何况英语俚语还会使用各种各样的修辞手法。3.2 英语俚语的意译当翻译“Dont pull my leg”这个句子的时候，如果使用直译的方式进行翻译，那么就可以翻译为“不要拖我的腿”。但是，这个句子在俚语中并不是这个意思，其真实的意思是“别开玩笑”14。“Turn the table”也是一个俚语，同时这也是一个非常简单的短语，即使一个人的英语水平比较低，也会翻译，这代表着“弄翻桌子”的意思。但是，现如今这个短语已经不单纯的代表这个本来的意思，而是指“扭转局面，反败为胜”15。如果说一个人扭转了局面，完全可以使用“He turns the table”。当然了，这个俚语不会无缘无故的使用，都会存在前因后果，所以翻译起来也不存在很大的麻烦。该俚语存在的时间比较长，所以已经进入了标准词汇，在相关的翻译软件上输入直接就会显示其比喻义。除了这些使用时间比较长，已经逐渐过渡到标准词汇的俚语之外，还有很多俚语因为存在的时间比较短，所以在翻译上更加的困难。例如在翻译“hands-chopping people”的时候，可以直接翻译为“剁手族”。前者在英语文化中非常流行，后者则是在汉语文化中非常流行。随着网络购物的时兴，很多人都会在网上购买大量的产品，这就导致了很多不必要的消费，所以经常会说“再买就剁手”，这也是剁手族的来源。由此可以看出，俚语和汉语在一定程度上是具有相同文化背景的，很多内容都是相通的，所以在翻译这个俚语的时候不用翻译为“剁手的人”，而是翻译为“剁手族”，这也符合了我们的流行。再比如“jet setting lifestyle”，指的是那些经常乘坐喷气客机的人，那么完全可以翻译为“土豪”，毕竟普通人无法经常乘坐这样的客机。还有“easy like”，指的是那些经常点赞的人，所以可以翻译为“点赞狂人”16。3.3 英语俚语意译注意事项通过对英语俚语的意译可以发现，在翻译英语俚语的时候有很多事项需要注意。首先，需要结合上下文的语境。很多俚语都存在比喻的现象，例如“wearing two hats”，这个俚语如果不结合上下文的话就指的是“戴两顶帽子”，但是如何结合上下文就知道指的是“身兼两职”。在翻译俚语的时候，不要单纯的对俚语进行翻译，重点是结合上下文的语境，了解事情的前后因果。当然了，有很多俚语因为使用频率比较高，已经逐渐演变为标准语，这样的俚语在翻译的时候就基本上可以直接表述其意思，而不需要结合上下文语境。其次，需要了解发言者的说话风格。不同层次的人说话风格也是不同的，所以在翻译的时候需要了解发言者的说话风格。每个人的语言都有自身的特点，例如有的人说话就非常的直白，所以很少会出现那些偏僻的俚语，一般都会使用众所周知的俚语，所以完全可以放心翻译；但是有的人说话风格比较幽默，使用的俚语不一定具有很广的传播度，需要听者或者是读者自行进行翻译。再次，需要熟知当地的文化。俚语是一种流行性非常强的语言，世界上说英语的国家有很多，但是每个国家都有不同的文化，甚至是一个国家不同的地区文化也有很大的差异，而俚语是诞生于日常生活文化中的，所以如果熟知了一个地方的文化，那么就完全可以融入到当地的生活之中，理解当地人所使用的俚语自然也就十分方便了。最后，需要整体翻译。意译并不是死板的一对一进行翻译，只需要形象生动的传达出俚语的含义即可，所以在翻译上限制没有很多，不一定每个词语都对照着其本来的意思进行翻译。英语俚语需要从整体上进行理解并且翻译，毕竟一个俚语如果把每一个词语分开来看的话根本就无法理解其真实的含义，所以翻译的时候整体性是必不可少的。4. 结语综上所述，我们可以看出英语俚语的特点十分的鲜明，但是这些特点也会给翻译带来很多不便之处，导致在日常的交谈或者是阅读相关文章的时候无法了解发言者真实的意思。英语俚语的翻译方式有很多，在这里重点阐述了意译这种翻译方式。所谓意译，重点是传达其所蕴含的意思，而且有的时候能够在中文中找到与其意思相近的流行词汇，那么完全可以使用流行词汇翻译，这也理解起来就更加容易了。不过，无论选择什么方式翻译俚语，都必须要结合上下文的语境，还需要了解发言者的说话风格，再加上要熟知当地的文化，这样才能够理解发言者的真实意图。参考文献1董金平.英语俚语的特点及语用功能.理论观察,2009年第5期第143-144页.
