甘肃省玉门市第一中学高一七选五专题英语测试(附答案) I was born in the U.S, but grew up in Greece, experiencing the best of both worlds. I began studying French in sixth grade while in Grece. ____1____ I moved to the U.S. at 18 to study at Oakland University. My love of French carried over to college and French became one of my majors. Besides French, I am also majoring in journalism with a dream to travel and write. ____2____ I wanted to understand the nature of a culture different from the ones I was familiar with. I wanted to get to know the people and make basic connections. During my stay in France, I maintained a blog and I wrote a lot. Through my study, I got the chance to talk to the locals and share stories and experiences with my host family. ____3____ Classes were long, homework was pleasantly challenging, but there was plenty of time in that one month of July to explore the city and see France. The food and the trips were by far the best part of my experience. I was in homestay and all my meals were home-made, French and delicious. ____4____ I also got to see places that I had only ever heard about in my studies. Physically going to sights rich in history and beauty was incredible. Studying abroad, you will be able to explore the world and become more aware of other cultures. You will make friends and discover delicious or perhaps strange foods. ____5____ A.The cheese and bread were wonderful. B.It was indeed the most tiring moment in my life. C.To realize it I chose to study abroad in Angers, France. D.I couldn’t even find a single minute to record my experiences. E.Such experience will make you a culturally and socially richer person. F.That’s when my passion for the French language and culture was born. G.Despite the busy class schedule, my time in Angers was simply lovely. We all have to make decisions all the time, and we have an abundance of choices, ranging from tiny issues to vital ones. Unfortunately, people often find it hard to make decisions. ___6___ If you would like to improve your skill of decision making, here are four suggestions for you. Don't expect to have it all. ___7___ You can't order every delicious dish on the menu. And there will be paths not taken, careers not chosen, to name a few. You can imagine some “what if" situations if you must, but do not let them take up too much space in your brain. ___8___ It's often good to think through your decisions. But don't overdo it. Research can reach a point where returns begin to reduce, which makes it confusing more than clarifying. Many good decisions can be made based as much on intuition (直觉) as on careful assessment of endless data. Don't delay making decisions. Yes, there is a time to put off making a decision. Perhaps you need more information. ___9___ Or it's likely that you wait for a less stressful time. Just don't wait so long that the decision is made by your own indecisiveness (犹豫不决). Don't be hard on yourself. You decide to go on a voyage. You choose an expensive liner. Everything should work out just right. Only you didn't expect an illness that ran around on the ship, making you and your family sick for five days.___10___But please remember it is unavoidable sometimes. A.Don't spend too much time thinking. B.It is an important source of information. C.You may regret making such a stupid decision. D.Don't count on emotion to make decisions. E.Maybe you wish to ask your advisor for help. F.Decisions force us to give up something. G.That means the skill of good decision-making is really important. Anxiety is a normal feeling characterized by worry or fear. For example, if you have a big test, or when you don’t know how an event will turn out, you are likely to be anxious. ____11____ Here are tips to reduce your symptoms(症状). *Get the right amount of sleep. Getting the proper amount of sleep at night is important. Your mind and body can reset, which helps you make better decisions when you wake up. This can also help adjust your moods and allow you to be able to get through your daily tasks.____12____ After doing this for a while, your body may start to get tired at the same time each day, which could mean you will have an easier time going to sleep each night. *____13____ Breathing deeply can often help regulate anxious physical symptoms. When you breathe in deeply, not only does oxygen enter your body, but you also have to take a minute to change what you are doing. Sometimes when you take yourself out of a stressful situation for a while, you can gain a completely new understanding of what’s going on. Try to stop and take deep breaths whenever you start to feel anxious. *Pay attention to triggers(诱因). ____14____In some cases, these things may be obvious, but at other times, you may have trouble identifying them. You can start writing down what happens to you in a journal so that you can rule out certain events and habits. Anxiety is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to prevent you from living the life you want. There are many ways to change your life and habits.____15____ A.Learn how to breathe. B.Living with anxiety isn’t easy. C.Examine your values and live by them. D.Stress can cause you to have trouble falling asleep. E.You should start to remove the things that trouble you. F.Be sure to take care of yourself and reduce the stress in your life. G.Try to go to sleep at the same time each night, even on the weekends. A few days ago, our school held a two-day food festival. Before the food festival started, the school had set up tents and posted menus at the gate of the canteen to attract students. ___16___ On the first day of the food festival, when the bell rang after the last class in the morning, everyone rushed to the booths (摊位) in front of the canteen. ___17___ There was a long line in front of each booth. Everyone sweated in the burning sun, but the heat didn’t stop the students’ enthusiasm for delicious food. Fortunately, I bought a cup of milk tea that I had been longing for in just a few minutes. It tasted even better than I had imagined! ___18___ Without any experience, I chose to try as much food as I could, which gave me so much joy and satisfaction. For example, I fell in love with the crispy durian pastry (榴莲酥) at first bite. ___19___ And I can still remember how exquisite the craftsmanship (技艺) of making Indian pancakes was. However, what impressed me most was in fact the “intangible cultural heritage on the tip of the tongue”. It was everyone’s combined effort that made the activity such a big success, and it is people’s love for food that made the festival special. Enjoy food, value food, have a heart of gratitude and never forget the ones who have brought you up. ___20___ A.From this, I have learned how to cook well. B.More and more people began to buy milk tea C.This is what I’ve learned from the food festival. D.As a dessert lover, I couldn’t wait to enjoy tasty foods. If you feel really sad about this, the following steps can help you improve the situation. ____21____ Since we’re all unique, nobody relates to any two people in exactly the same way. Sometimes a parent might appear to favor you in some situations and favor a sibling in others. No parent can be perfect, but they should do their best to be fair. It’s normal for parents to treat each child little differently, because each kid might benefit from a slightly different approach. Try telling your parents how you feel. Your goal is to communicate your feelings directly without being rude.____22____For example, saying “I feel ignored ”is better than saying “you’re ignoring me.” You can also say,“I feel left out lately. Sometimes I feel like you're so busy taking care of the baby that you don’t have enough time for me.” Ask for what you'd like to happen. ____23____This lets them know how they can try to fix the problem. Present an idea that could help. You can say,“Could you please try to show up to more of my games so that I'll feel so happy knowing you’re there to cheer me on.” Step away if things get heated. Maybe you or your parents will get angry. It’s hard to have a useful conversation if one or both people are too angry to think straight. If you see this happening, take a break. Do some deep breathing and step away.____24____ Remember that your parents have to make the decision to change. Sometimes talking about your feelings is enough for them to change their behavior.____25____This typically isn’t your fault (错误). The way they react to an honest conversation says how good they are at parenting, not how good you are at being their child. You can’t change other people. You can only control your own behavior. A.Other times it isn't. B.Use “I” language instead of “you” language. C.Keep in mind that every relationship is different. D.Remember that you can always try again another day. If you want to head to a top college, you need to start thinking and working for that immediately. And while that includes getting good grades, it’s not just about grades. You also have to take leadership positions because at last, that’s what makes you stand out. — Alondra Work hard When I was in junior high, a friend from senior high school told me I must concentrate on study and work hard from the minute I entered senior high. ____29____ .So many of my friends fell behind the first year because it was so different from junior high school. Of these three, work experience carries a lot more weight. “Why do you want to work for this company?”___38___, you are letting the interviewer know that you haven’t done much research about the company or the job you are being interviewed for. Interviewees who can give detailed answers about the benefits of working for a particular company make a much better impression on interviewers. “What are your strengths and what is your biggest weakness?” People have a hard time answering the first question because it feels like boasting (吹嘘) in some ways. ___39___.
