单元教材分析
The theme of this chapter is talking about life five hundred years ago. Pupils learn to talk about different aspects of life in the past using general determiners . In the task, they choose a topic about life five hundred years ago. They gather information and then draw and write about the topic . Then they pile the topics into a class book .

Step 1 Warm up
1. Show the picture to students
2. Let students to guess which year does the picture show .
3. Have you ever been to a museum ?
Step 2 Presentation and drill
1. Show the flash cards of cotton clothes .
T: What are the clothes made of ?
Help students to answer: They are made of cotton .
T: They are cotton clothes .
(The same to learn the silk clothes )
Show the flash cards of a horse
T: What’s this animal ?
S: It’s a horse .
T: What can horse do ? Why we need horse five hundred years ago ?
Help Ss to answer : The horse can help people to travel .
(The same way to teach the others new words )
2. Use the flash cards to ask questions . Draw pupils’ attention to the chart on Page 26 of the Pupils’ book . Tell them to look at the bottom .
T: What did people wear ?
P: They wore cotton clothes and silk clothes .
T: Which clothes do you think more people wore ? Look at the chart . Who can tell me the answer ?
P: Cotton clothes . More people wore cotton clothes .
T: That’s right . Most people wore cotton clothes .Some people wore silk clothes .
Step 3 Extension
Look at the picture on Page 26 Part A. Talk about the travel five hundres years aga .
T:How did people travel ?
P: They walked , rode horse,travelled by boat or by sedan chair .
T:What kind of people usually travelled by sedan chair ?
P: Rich people .
T: Why ?
P: It was expensive .
T: Yes. Most people walked or rode horses.Rich people travelled by sedan chair .Some people travelled by boats.
Step 4 Sum up
What did we learn today ? Look at the blackboard and read together .
Step 5. Homework
Copy the 8 phrases in part A and recite it

Step 1 Warm up
1. Review the phrases with Ss .
Play a game: Sharp eyes. T shows the cards quickly, pupils watch and read it fast. Who can read it faster will get one point.(cotton clothes , silk clothes , a horse , a sedan chair ……)
Step 2 Presentation and practice
1. Using questions to review the sentences .
T: What did people wear ?
S:Most people wore cotton clothes and some people wore silk clothes.
(The same to review the way of travel)
2. Look at the picture on Page 26 Part A.Let’s talk about the money and where did people live ?
1. Let the students try to answers by themselves first :
2.Then help them to correct the answers
3.write down the right answer on the board, let students read together.

Let students do the conversation two by two . One act as Peter , another act as Betty. To practice the dialogue.
S1: How did people pay ?
S2: Most people paid with silver and gold . Some people paid with paper money .
S1: Where did people live ?
S2: Most people lived in villages.Some people lived in towns.
4.Invite some groups to show their conversation in front of the class .
Step 3 Sum up
What did we learn today ?
We learn how did people pay and where did people live .
Pay attention to the irregular verbs.

1. Free talk.(pupils ask and answer questions they set out)
What did you do last weekend? Did you …?
Step 2: Introduction
Last time, we knew how did people wear, travel, live and pay for things. But do you know more about things happened in the past of China?
Step 3: Presentation
1. Tell pupils to look at the pictures on page 29 of the Pupil’s Book first. Draw their attention to the information provided in Alan’s book by asking pupils questions.
a. What can you see in Alan’s book?
b. Are these pictures about life today or life in the past?
What do they tell you? Etc.
2. Tell pupils to look at Jay’s bubble on page 30 of the Pupil’s Book. Ask questions to help them link information about life five hundred years ago to that about life today.
a. Is there any money today?
b. Was there any money five hundred years ago? etc.
3. Ask pupils to look at the webpage on page 30. Tell them to locate information provided on the webpage.
What’s the web page about? Are the pictures about life today or life in the past? How do you know?
4. Tell pupils to look at Alan’s bubble on page 29. Ask questions of page 29 to help them link the information on the webpage to Alan’s queries.
5. In pairs act the boys and talk about life five hundred years ago. Go round the class checking their understanding.
Step 4: practice and activities.
Game: Mr. professor!(teacher pretend to be the role)
Today, Mr. professor is ing! You can ask any questions you want to know about the past. The others try to answer. If all of you cannot solve the problem. Mr. professor will give you a hand.

a. One pupil describe with different sentences without saying out the key word. Others guess.
b. Teacher lets out some information or pictures on PPT. Others guess what is the key word and how to spell.
2. Review the key sentences.
a. Teacher has an oral English dialogue with them first. Then write down the questions on the board.
How was the life 500 years ago? Was/Were there any …? Did people …?How did they …?
b. Pupils try to make their own dialogue within the key sentence structure. They can brainstorming different environment they like, which can help them to design more bravo dialogues.
c. Act it out!
3. Review Grammar points.
Finish page 13, page 15 of Grammar Practice Book. Then teacher checks the answers. At last, let pupils make a conclusion of it .
