curriculum：,中国英语教育始于19世纪初在中国的英国传教士，而中国人自己的英语教育则一般以1862年京师同文馆的成立为正式开端（李良佑等，1988；付克,1986）。到1903年，我国大中学校开始普遍开设外语课（付克，1986）。中华人民共和国成立后，国家于1964年制定了外语教育七年规划纲要，“首次在我国的正式文件中提出英语为我国学校教育的第一外语”（胡文仲，2001）。21世纪伊始，随着北京申奥成功、中国加入世贸组织，国人学英语的第三次高潮已经到来（王力第，2002）。保守地说，中国目前至少有两亿人在学英语，就以同一母语和同一文化背景学习同一外语而言，可谓人类外语学习史上之最。中国已经成为“外语教学的超级大国”（张吉生、周平，2002），但能否成为世界英语教学强国，则需广大同仁的共同努力。准确把握中国英语教育的时代脉络，了解其发展趋势，当是这种努力的一部分，本文的目的正在于此。我们将首先放眼世界的宏观教育思潮，接着介绍外语教学理论研究的发展趋势，之后将描述当下中国英语教育日趋明朗的时代特征。,3.2 language.,3.3 Goals and objectives of English language teaching,The new curriculum is designed to promote students overall language ability,which is composed of five interrelated components,namely,language skills,language knowledge,affects,learning strategies and cultural understanding.Each component is further divided into a few sub-categories.Language teaching is no longer aimed only for developing language skills and knowledge,but expanded to developing learners positive attitude,motivation,confidence as well as strategies for life-long learning along with
