21.(6分) Alibaba Cloud and the Hangzhou city government announced the launch of ET City Brain 2.0, a cloud—powered and Al-driven urban traffic-management system that aims to increase the city’s efficiency.
After over two years of testing in Alibaba’s home base, ET City Brain has become the new infrastructure (基础设施) for Hangzhou, with a total coverage of 420 square kilometers in area, including over 1,300 traffic lights. Over 200 traffic officers are connected via mobile phones, enabling them to receive real-time alerts on any traffic-related emergencies.
In version 2.0, the system will optimize the city’s firefighting abilities by providing key information to firefighters, such as water pressure, the number and position of fire hydrants (消防栓) in a given area, the location of gas pipes and other details they need to know. The information is instant, making the entire firefighting process faster, safer and more accurate.
City Brain gives meaning to data. By using AI and advanced algorithms (计算程序), City Brain is able to analyze a large amount of data and turn them into useful information in real-time speed.
As a result of City Brain’s ability to predict traffic flow, detect accidents and provide instant feedback, Hangzhou has dropped from 5th to the 57th on the list of China’s most congested cities. Hangzhou is probably the only city that can tell you how many cars are on the street at any given time.
In the case of medical emergencies, City Brain is able to change traffic lights, so emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks can head to the scene without interruption, accelerating their arrival time by 49%.
Dr. Wang Jian, the head of Alibaba’s Technology Steering Committee who invented the term “City Brain”, said the system is designed to empower a city to act quickly and directly. It is more than just about traffic management. It’s really about how to make city more livable at a time of shrinking natural resources around the globe. “It is a matter of sustainability, while using as little natural resources as possible,” Wang said, “This is just the beginning.”
1、What benefit will ET City Brain bring?
A.Lower crime rates.
B.Efficient government.
C.Less traffic congestion.
D.Improved medical care.
2、Which of the following functions of the city Brain is NOT mentioned in the text?

3、Which of the following best explains “optimize” in paragraph 3?
A.Better. B.Practise.
C.Operate. D.Emphasize.
4、What can we conclude from the last paragraph?
A.ET City Brain 2.0 is a mature version.
B.Alibaba targets environmentally-friendly development.
C.The government is devoted to improving the system.
D.The system can solve the problem of lack of resources.

24.(8分)Music has always been associated with exercising. Most of us listen to our favorite music while jogging in the park or while working out in the gym, but we never think of it as more than just an accompaniment to our exercisc routine. But recent scientific research has thrown light on the fact that using the “right” music while exercising can do you a whole lot of good: from creating a feeling of positivity to calming any anxious feelings.
Research on the effects of music during exercise has been done for years. In 1911,an American researcher, Leonard Ayres, found that cyclists pedaled faster while listening to music than they did in silence.
This happens because listening to music can drown out our brain’s cries of fatigue. As our body realizes we’re tired and wants to stop exercising, it sends signals to the brain to stop for a break. Listening to music competes for our brain’s attention, and can help us to overcome those signals of fatigue, though this is mostly beneficial for low-and moderate-intensity exercise. During high-intensity exercise, music isn’t as powerful as pulling our brain’s attention away from the pain of the workout.
Not only can we manage to exercise longer and harder when we listen to music, but it can actually help us to use our energy more efficiently. A 2015 study showed that cyclists who listened to music required 7% less oxygen to do the same work as those who cycled in silence. So in the same way that exercising makes us happier, it’s not surprising that music adds significantly to our work-out success.
What have you noticed about how music affects you? Next time when you take exercise, select the right music to accompany you. You will find yourself in a more different mood than ever.
1、Why do some people listen to music while exercising?
A.They attach importance to enjoying music.
B.They know music helps do exercise.
C.They find music is an interesting accompaniment.
D.They don’t give too much consideration to it.
2、How will you do when you want to stop exercising?
A.To try to listen to the music you like.
B.To stop for a rest immediately.
C.To tell yourself never to do like that.
D.To send a signal to your brain.
3、It can be inferred from the fourth paragraph that .
A.listening to music can help produce more energy
B.the cyclists love listening to music more than others
C.people should take listening to music seriously while exercising
D.significant music can benefit high-intensity exercise
25.(10分)To eat only a vegan(素食的) diet might sound difficult, especially with many popular dishes containing meat or other animal products. Yet in 2017, veganism was described as “the fastest - growing lifestyle movement” in the UK, according to BBC news.
A study by a UK market research organization, suggests that over 542,000 Brits went vegan during the previous decade, an increase of 360%. And the main force behind this increase was those aged 15-34 years old — 42% of recent vegans fall under that age range.
So why exactly has veganism become so popular among young Brits?
One reason could be that many young people want to protect the environment, as less meat consumption is known to be beneficial to the environment. Global meat manufacturing is believed to cause 18% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions(排放), even more than that of all the world’s cars, trains and planes combined. Another reason is that many of today’s young people believe that it’s wrong to kill animals to be used as food.
Jess Murray, 22, a student at University College London, said that he chose to become vegan after realizing that eating animals is a choice that people make, rather than something that we need to do to survive. “Becoming vegan was an ethical (道德的) decision,” he told the Guardian.
Social media is also believed to have given rise to the increase in veganism. Platforms such as Facebook allow young vegans to connect with each other much easier, while others such as Instagram have led to the creation of “vegan celebrities (名人)”, who share lips on vegan lifestyles.
Despite the rising of veganism, Laura Wyness, an expert in diet and nutrition, said that meat is very important for people’s health. “A strict vegan diet makes it difficult to get some minerals and vitamins that your body needs,” Wyness told BBC news.
However, the popularity of veganism doesn’t seem to be fading. “It feels more like this is something that is sticking.” said an expert of the Vegan Society, a UK charity that promotes veganism.
1、What can we learn about veganism, “the fastest-growing lifestyle movement” in UK?
A.It has created many popular dishes.
B.It is back
