这三个动词都可以用来表示“修理”某一事物,使其能恢复到原来的形状或状态的意思。
fix指“修理”时,是个不正式的用语,它的基本含义是将某物“固定”某一地方。Fix可用来指“修补”或“整理”任何出了毛病的东西,使用范围较repair广。例如: I am going to fix my bicycle tomorrow.我准备明天修理自行车。 It took three hours for the worker to fix the leaking tap。修理那漏水的龙头花了这位工人3个小时的时间。
I had my tape recorder fixed (repaired).我把录音机修理了。(我让别人把录音机修理好了)。 repair a machine修理一台机器 repair a house 修理房屋 repair one’s shoes 修理鞋
I have to have my watch repaired.我的表该修理了。 This TV set has to be repaired.这台电视机必须修理。
Mend指“修理”、“修补”或“织补”某一损坏穿破了的东西。也指“补救”过错等。例如: He mended the broken toy.他修理了损坏的玩具。
The worker offered to mend the window for us.那种人主动提出要帮我们修理窗户。 Mother mended my socks yesterday.昨天妈妈补好了我的袜子。
由此可见,这三个词的主要区别在于:fix使用范围比较广,且不正式;repair多用于指修理物体比较庞大或复杂的东西之上;mend多用于指修理结构简单的小东西。
