Excessive Noise May Make Women Fat!
Quiet is among the hallmarks of a green home that may be especially relevant in light of studies that find noise leads to obesity. A Norwegian罗威 Institute of Public Health Study discovered that traffic noise may make women fat. A previous Swedish study linked large waist circumference with aircraft noise. I guess women who live near highways and airports may be doomed.
The Norwegians reported that 1.4 million people in their country live near traffic noise that exceeds 55 decibels分贝. The recent study is another that links long-term exposure to aircraft and/or road noise to health problems that range from increased risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular心血管 disease to obesity. This study, the Norwegian Institute said “reinforces the knowledge that noise can contribute to more serious health conditions than annoyance and sleep disturbance.”
Women exposed to noise were likely to have all three obesity markers: high body mass index (BMI)身体质量指数, large waist circumference and hip-waist ratio. Men not so much, according to the study.
