Step 6 Guide Four Language points 1. elder adj.&n. 年纪较长的;年长者 辨析elder与older的用法区别: (1). elder和older都是old的比较级,意思都是“岁数较大、年龄较长”,但用法有些区别。 elder只用于人,多指兄弟姐妹之间年龄长幼中的“长”,只用作定语,不用作表语,也不能与than连用。 A lot of elder people don’t like pop music. 许多年纪大的人不喜欢流行音乐。 older可用于人或物,用于人时,指实际年龄大小中的“大”;用于物,意为“较旧的”,既可用定语、表语,也可与than连用。 I am two years older than my brother. 我比我弟弟大两岁。 (2). elder还可用作名词,单数指两人中年龄较大的人,复数泛指“长辈”,而older没有这种用法。 He is the elder of the two brothers. 两兄弟中他是老大。 Children should respect their elders. 孩子们应该尊敬长辈。 2.That sounds a good idea.那听起来不错。 sound作为动词,意思为“听起来,听上去”。常用作连系动词,后面接形容词做表语。 The news sounds good. 这个消息听起来不错。 Step 7.Homework 1.
