Unit 2 Keeping healthy Topic 2 I must ask him to give up smoking. Section B(1a-1c) Qingfeng Junior High School Song Ya Teaching Reflection Here is a reflection on my English teaching of this class. The topic I taught today was about the bad habit of smoking. Concerning the students were in Grade Eight, I designed this class like this. First, I designed the chant about habit in the part of reviewing. The aim is to raise students’ interests in this class. I think it was successful because I could see many students sang after the recording, which surprised me a lot. And I designed a game of saying some good habits and bad habits, which aimed to help students review the key phrases of habits that they learnt before. I found the students were interested in this game and many students could speak out the phrases they knew quickly. I think the aim of reviewing had reached. But I spent too much time in this part. It was the failure of this class. Second, I showed the students some pictures and taught the new words and phrases about this new lesson, which proved that the preparation was effective because the students could memorize the new words and phrases very quickly. It helped the students get ready for the next listening. Third, I asked the students to listen to the recording carefully and answer the first two questions that I designed. Then I made them listen again and then answer the last question that seemed more difficult than the first two questions. The result turned out that the students could listen very clearly because they could answer the questions quickly. What I think about in this part is that the questions we should design in an appropriate way. Fourth, I guided the students to drill the conversation and pay attention to the key words and phrases. I think it is necessary to make students get familiar with the text and the background of this conversation, which can help them memorize the new words and phrases more effectively. Fifth, I designed the part of checking by covering the key words and phrases in the conversation. I think it is effective for them to check the proficiency to the key points in this conversation. I asked them to present and they could read the conversation fluently. I think the aim of this part had reached. Finally, I asked them to do a pair work on“ If there is someone smokes around you, what will you say to him or her? Make a conversation with your partner.”I think it may be the most failing part in this class. Maybe it was because that I didn’t design appropriate, the students couldn’t understand me very well and the students couldn’t finish the work at once. Which made me think that I should give them the clear instructions for what they should do. In a word, I think the main aims for this class had reached. But there were also many failures .There were much work for me to do and I will spare no efforts to explore. I believe I can do better in my future teaching.
