第一节
Dear Editor,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to express my enthusiasm for the English Culture Festival that
concluded recently. The events were not only engaging but also a vibrant showcase of our school's multicultural spirit.
I am particularly impressed by the "International Food Fair" activity. It was a creative blend of culture and cuisine
that allowed us to taste and appreciate dishes from around the world. The activity developed a sense of community and
broadened our horizons, making it my top recommendation.
Looking forward to more such enriching experiences in the future.
Best regards,
Li Hua
第二节
From that day on, I didn't talk to Alex. Each day at school, I navigated the hallways with a new route, avoiding the places
he frequented. The shared excitement that once connected us was replaced by a painful silence. Alex tried to do something to
mend it. One day, he even left me a note, trying to comfort me. But I looked at him coldly, “Leave me alone.” I knew I was
hurting him, but the sting of rejection was too fresh, and I couldn't find the words to bridge the gap.
Finally, Mom talked with me, saying Alex wasn't the one to blame. She reminded me that success and failure were parts
of life's journey. “You should have congratulated your friend on this instead of feeling pitiful for yourself,” she said seriously.
It suddenly struck me that how unfairly I treated Alex. Seized by guilt, I followed mom’s advice and left Alex a note,
expressing my feelings—not as an apology, but as a step towards healing and rebuilding our bond. It was time to face my fears
and embrace the reality that our friendship could weather this storm.

Text 1 30
W: Let's purchase a comprehensive cookbook and learn some recipes for our dinner party.
M: We could do that. But cookbooks tend to be pricey. What about looking at the library's collection?
Text 2 26
W: You took Mr. Hampton’s literature course last semester?
M: Yes. But I could never get through the weekly readings. There were just so many books and materials.
Text 3 39
M: Thanks for a great time, Kate.
W: It was our pleasure having you. Bob and I enjoyed your company.
M: My bus is about to leave. Don't forget to contact me when you're in Perth.
W: Of course, we'll be in touch.
Text 4
W: Modern Elegance. Can I help you?
M: I've ordered a dining table and wanted it delivered this Friday.
W: Of course. Anything wrong?
M: I must have it delivered this Saturday instead.
Text 5
W: Paul, look, the Italian restaurant where we had our first date.
M: Wonderful! Their pizza has been a classic for nearly a decade. And the background music is always nice.
Text 6
W: Hey, Joe. Are you interested in joining the school's arts club this year?
M: Er…I'm uncertain if I'm qualified enough.
W: Believe in your abilities! You have a fantastic skill for planning artistic events.
M: But I’m not as creative as you in oil painting.
W: Anyhow, you ought to take a chance. Our club needs more than painters or photographers.
M: Thanks for the encouragement, Catherine. Can I let you know my decision in a couple of days?
Text 7
M: Look! The stage curtains are rising gradually, and all the stage lights are on!
W: Yes, it’s about to start.
M: Oh, look over there! There's Emily on the stage now. Her acting is so lively and funny. Hahaha...
W: To be honest, it feels a bit unnatural. I prefer Sam's performance. Their portrayal is much more engaging than Emily's.
{

M: It’s a stage show. I think that’s why Emily’s acting is larger-than-life acting style. Actually, they are both talented actors. Oh, help,
something… on my sweater.
W: Calm down. It's just a fly...a common sight outdoors. I’ve taken it away now.
M: Thank you so much.
Text 8
W: I wonder if you could find some options for train tickets from Lyon to Barcelona? We're looking for an affordable trip without
losing too much comfort.
M: Just a moment. I'd recommend considering a round-trip ticket if you travel on a weekday and purchase your tickets at least two
weeks in advance. You just need to select the “Budget” class. That way, you could save a lot.
W: We're only interested in a one-way ticket.
M: Would you consider booking a train to Madrid instead?
W: But that's not our destination.
M: I understand, but you could take a connecting train from Madrid to Barcelona and still save money. Also, you'd need to book all
the tickets well in advance.
W: I see, but let's stick to our original plan, thank you.
Text 9
M: So, Bella, your vlog channel is really taking off. What inspired you to start sharing your daily life online?
W: At first, I created the channel as a personal journal, that is, a way to document my experiences.
M: I've seen you cover a wide range of topics. Which type of content do you think is most engaging for viewers?
W: Vlogs about my personal development seem to identify well with my audience. They appreciate the real life.
M: Great. Are there any new themes you're planning to explore next year?
W: I'm looking to include more interviews with inspiring individuals and add a section on current social issues. I also want to
experiment with more interactive content like Q&A sessions.
M: Well, it seems you bite off more than I can imagine. So, does updating vlogs take up too much your time?
W: Yes, I do spend most of my spare time on it so sometimes I am just exhausted to keep it updated. But I’ve learnt a lot, like
planning everything ahead of time, never losing heart when facing challenges, staying calm to unkind comments. But maybe,
the most important, committing one hundred percent to succeed.
