Our English literature teacher Miss Linda was new to teaching. But she always did her best to make learning
fun and pleasant. But the thing that truly solidified her spot as my favorite teacher was that for every student’s
birthday she would give us a personalized notebook.
It was just a simple small notebook, but she had filled the first page with her own words which made me
realize how good a person I was. As a teenager who had a terrible home life, it made all the difference in how I
acted the rest of the year.
In a session of English class, we were discussing a passage we had read. One student Jack made a point. Miss
Linda basically said Jack was wrong. The next day, after we took our seats, she said, “Before we begin, I was
thinking about what Jack said yesterday. Let’s take a look at that again. My knowledge is limited in this field where

Language is the most important tool for human communication and is essential for life in our society. Dr.
Sabrina Turker from the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig says, “Despite a
lot of research on how the brain processes language, we still don’t know much about how language is organized in
the human brain. Most of what we know comes from small studies with only a few subjects, and these findings
have not been confirmed in other studies.” This meta-analysis aims to help change that.
Based on many neuroscientific (神经科学的) experiments using brain imaging techniques and involving
thousands of subjects, this analysis gives us a deeper understanding of how the brain organizes language. By
combining results from different studies, researchers can see which parts of the brain are active during various
language tasks. This approach helps us understand the basic principles of how the brain processes language.
The researchers not only studied language as a process in general, but also clearly addressed subordinate (从属
的) processes: the meaning of language at the level of words and sentences (semantics); the phonetic structure of
language (phonology); grammar and the arrangement of linguistic elements (syntax); the phonetic structure of
language at sentence level, including melody, intonation and rhythm (prosody).
Besides the well-known language areas in the left side of the brain, the researchers discovered that parts of the
brain below the cerebral cortex and the cerebellum also play an important role in language processes.

Gesa Hartwigsen, Professor of Cognitive and Biological Psychology at Leipzig University, said, “Our findings
may serve future studies involving language recovery after brain injury, for example caused by stroke. And they
could help to improve models of language processing.”

for ethical health care practices. It’s this “growth at all costs” attitude that blurs the lines between profitability and
patient outcomes. Investors and executives are putting themselves in positions of power without any strategic
advising from an experienced medical provider.
The modern-day patient has evolved significantly—individuals are showing up to appointments having done
extensive research, and not always on reliable platforms. Patients must be mindful of what information they are
giving out and the associated comfort level of it being shared. Medical history can have unexpected results for your
entire life. Could the release of certain information impact your family, job, or career? The provider’s job is to
advocate for the patient. This includes demanding transparency regarding data handling and security rules,
challenging questionable marketing claims, and ensuring businesses prioritize evidence-based medicine and patient
safety.
So, we have to make full use of a provider’s influence and experience, ensuring they are used to promote patient
well-being and protect their interests at every turn. As trusted custodians (管理人) of patient data, health care
providers bear the responsibility of ensuring that the business prioritizes privacy protection and obeys data security
rules. At the same time, startup companies must take steps to ensure data security and patient-centric ethical practices
with medical professionals in advisory and decision-making positions.
