Passage C

、bor Party, Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats (4) Law of gravity (5) Ragtime (6) Survival of the Fittest (7) Eton, Winchester C. Short Answer for Questions

那么我旳建议是:美国同事可以直接说, good, I'am wondering if we could talk about something else?

、r words)。 因此,当她说,stop by旳时候,只是一种客气,就像how are you。 But

、I was informed just now that my mom is sick. I am very worried about her. I'm fine. Thanks, and you? (5)“The Scottish Play” is a euphemism for Shakespeare's play Macbeth, used by many actors when they want to refer to the play without saying the name, out of respect for t

、he superstitions which surround the play. According to legend, saying the name of the play or quoting from it inside a theater can bring down bad luck on the theater and the actors. The exception to this rule is, of course, when an actual performance of Macbeth is occurring, in which case obviously

、actors must quote from the play. “Boxing Day” is a bank or public holiday that occurs on 26 December, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws. It is observed in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and some other Commonwealth nations.
