A dangerous animal stood in front of the mountain. Hou Yi quickly killed it with his bow. He then went into the mountain and saw a beautiful woman with many lovely fairies(精灵)．
When asked the reason for his visit, he explained it. And the woman told him that the girl was her daughter. And she served him lots of delicious food. To show his thanks, Hou Yi helped them build sixteen palaces and a gate.
Before he left, he got a pill of immortality(长生不老药). When he returned home, his wife, Chang'e, found the pill and ate it. Then she rose in the air and flew up to the moon.
The gods felt sorry for Hou Yi, so they sent him to the Palace of the Sun. There they gave him a golden bird. It was this bird that woke up the people on the earth with its crow(啼叫) every day.
