2、vided my lesson presentation into 6 parts. They are the analysis of teaching material, the analysis of the students, the teaching aims, the teaching methods, the teaching procedure and the teaching reflection. Now I’ll come to the first part. Part I The analysis of teaching material 2a-2e, Se

3、ction B is the 4th period in Unit 5. And the title of this unit is “Do you want to watch a game show?” The topic is about entertainment. Yes, it’s a popular topic for students, and it has interested them already. Ahead of the 3 periods, the students learnt how to talk about preferences and how to m

4、ake plans. They were attracted by all the things from all kinds of TV shows in Section A to the topic of movies in Section B. What I taught here is a reading part. It’s mainly to train the reading abilities and skills. In this period, the leading character---Mickey Mouse appeared, and it is loved

5、 deeply by many people because they know it, like it and they are interested in it. The reading content is about how Mickey was created, became famous and why people loved him so much. After reading, students should know cartoon stands an important position of American culture. The most important is

6、 they should not only try to get the information from reading, but also learn to read effectively, at the same time they should care for the culture of our country and love our motherland. Part II The analysis of the students The students of Grade 8 have learned English for 5 years. Most student

7、s have some basic knowledge and skills of English learning, but reading skill is kind of limited, it doesn’t matter for this. For the students in Yingjie School are active and well trained,I’m sure they have mastered what they should learn in my class. Part Ⅲ Teaching aims 1. The knowledge aims

8、 The knowledge goal in this class is obvious. Students should understand the meaning of the text, and master the new vocabulary and phrases: such as culture, famous, appear, think of, come out, one of the main reasons, be ready to, try one’s best…etc. 2. The ability and learning strategy aims Teac

9、h students to get some information from the text and finish some reading tasks by skimming, scanning and careful reading. Make use of the knowledge and experience that they have learned so far and read in an effective way. Pay attention to the time clue in the text. 3. The emotion aims Teach stude

10、nts to learn from Walt Disney to be creative, and learn from Mickey Mouse to try their best to face any danger bravely in life. And also try to make students feel reading is interesting and necessary, love and enjoy reading! Reading makes a full man! 4. Cultural awareness aims As language is th

11、e carrier of culture, unless they understand the culture of target language, they couldn’t use the language. In this period, the more students know about American culture, the better they’ll know why cartoon is a symbol of American culture. And they are eager to know the culture of our own country.

12、I tried my best to encourage them to pay attention to it. 5. The important and difficult points According to the teaching aims, I think the important points include two parts—The first is to understand the content they read, know the main idea of the article , the second is to make them learn to

13、read in an effective way. The difficult point is to train them to grasp the reading strategies and read effectively. Part Ⅳ The teaching methods As we all know good teaching methods are the keys to success. In this lesson, I used 3 teaching methods. One is Interactive teaching method. The 2nd

14、is Task-based language teaching method and the 3rd is Cooperative learning teaching method. 1.Interactive teaching method At the beginning of my class Interactive teaching method is used. I led them to take in information, look for connections, interpret and make sense of it, I do believe it’s hel

15、pful to make them think by themselves, and I hope to activate their creative thinking in their minds by doing so. 2.Task-based Language Teaching In this class, I gave them some tasks in each step. The students learnt and used English by reading, thinking, discussion and cooperation. 3.Cooperativ

16、e learning teaching method Cooperative learning can raise the students’ interest and create an atmosphere of achievement. In small teams, each with students of different ability levels, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding. Each member of a team is responsible, not on

17、ly for learning what is taught, but also for helping his or her teammates learn, I think it is a successful teaching strategy. Part V The teaching procedure Based on what I said above, I divided my teaching into 9 steps: Step 1 Lead in and show the learning aims. The game “Me, too!” intereste

18、d them, they were active. And then a word puzzle game led in CARTOON . In fact , it activated them. Next, the famous and important character Mickey Mouse appeared. I encouraged them to know more information about Mickey by asking questions. And just at this time the learning aims today were shown. I

19、 gave them enough time to make clear what they should learn in this class. In order to encourage active participation of students, I divided the whole class into two teams. The winner would get some prize. Step 2 Fast reading with Task1 Read the article and match the time with the events. Stu

20、dents were asked to read the article for the first time quickly and find out the three events with the right time. Before reading, the reading strategies were taught. Step 3 Careful reading and detailed reading with Tasks 2 to 5 After they read the whole article with the task 1, then, it was time

21、 for them to read each paragraph carefully and solve the detailed tasks. Some interesting questions like Did Mickey’s girlfriend Minnie marry him? were asked. In order to lead them to have an effective reading, the reading strategies were taught, too. Step 4 Solving difficult language problems th

22、rough reading  While they finished all the reading tasks and knew the main idea of what they read, it was time for them to solve the language knowledge problems .This time Cooperative learning was helpful .They were asked to read the whole article more carefully again and then find out what they di

23、dn’t understand and then to solve the problems in their groups. At last any problem they couldn’t solve would be told and solved together with the teacher. Thus the ability of self-learning and cooperative learning methods were used and such kind of ability can help to gain and deal with language in

24、formation. Step 5 I know I show! As language points are the basic knowledge of reading, some important phrases in the article were shown, and the students were asked to tell the Chinese meaning first. Step 6 Test time Test in class is very important. So they got such a chance. It was time t

25、o check how they learned in this class and they were made to fill in the missing words . Step 7 Summary about Mickey Step 8 Consolidation and extension As Chinese, it’s our duty to know more about our culture, so they had the chance to discuss about these two questions:1.What cartoon character

26、is a symbol of Chinese culture?2.What can be a symbol of Chinese culture? Step 9 Sweet advice Go to Disney Land and visit Mickey and Minnie if you have time! Love and enjoy reading!
