What does it feel like to break a bone (骨头)? It’s different for everyone, but the pain(痛苦) is often sharp (严重). If the break is small however, the person may not feel much pain at all. If you think that you or someone else has broken a bone, the most important things to do are to stay calm（镇定）, make the hurt person comfortable（舒服）, and call the doctor. Do not move the injured body part since movement could make it worse.
To treat the break, the doctor will need to take an X-ray. This gives the doctor the information he or she needs to set (接上) the bone: to put it back to its normal place. If the bone is large or it is broken in more than one place, the doctor may need to use metal pins (钢钉) to set it. After the bone has been set, the next step is usually putting on a cast, the special, hard thing that will keep the bone in place for a month or two.
Your bones are excellent at healing themselves. Broken bones will produce many new cells (细胞) and tiny blood vessels (血脉). These cover both ends of the broken part, and close up the break until the bone is as whole and strong as before.

If you want to stay young, sit down and have a good think. This is the research findings of a team of Japanese doctors, who say that most of our brains are not getting enough exercise --and as a result, we are growing old unnecessarily soon.
Professor Taiju Matsuzawa wanted to find out why quite healthy farmers in northern Japan appeared to be losing their ability to think at a rather early age, and how the speed of getting old could be slowed down.
With a team of colleagues（同事） at Tokyo National University(东京国立大学), he set about measuring the brain volumes（容量） of a thousand people of different ages and with different jobs.
Computer technology（技术） helped the researchers to get most exact measurements of the volume of the front and side parts of the brain, which have something to do with intellect（智力） and emotion, and determine the human character. As we know, the back part of the brain, which controls tasks as eating and breathing, does not contract（收缩） with age. Contraction of front and side parts---as cells die off---was seen in some people in their thirties.
Matsuzawa concluded from his test that there is a simple way to prevent the contraction---using the head.
The findings show that contraction of the brain（大脑萎缩） begins sooner among people in the country than in the town.
Those with least possibility are lawyers. White-collar workers(白领工人) doing the same work day after day are, however, as possible to have contraction brains as the farm workers and bus drivers.
