Tobacco is one of the commodities that are consumed in an immense amount worldwide. From the pictures, we can learn that the global smoking population amounts to 1.1 billion, approximately 20% of all the worlds’ residents. 200 billion dollars are spent annually in order to purchase tobacco and relevant products, which further stimulate the business’ flourishing development. Meanwhile, the harm caused by tobacco consumption is experiencing a similar upward trend—statistics indicates that 3,000,000 people die of smoking and related diseases every year.
Nevertheless, given the pessimistic statistics at the present, we can still predict optimistically that tobacco consumption will decline based on several new tendencies that are emerging. In the first place, there is an extensive public awareness of the negative impact of smoking, and as a result, more people resist the temptation of cigarettes. In the second place, governments are setting more regulations to limit tobacco production. The effectiveness of such a policy was testified by the prompt drop of the tobacco production from 14364 billion in 1994 pounds to 14.2 billion pounds in 1995 as seen in the picture.
In short, I firmly believe that, with the efforts of the whole society, we can launch more movements to realize a cleaner world with less smoking.

The picture depicts a man who is happily singing and walking home with his cute dog. He is coming back from work carrying his briefcase, and he must have stopped by the market on his way, buying vegetables and fish. As is suggested by the picture, he is exercising by waving the briefcase and basket together.
The picture is thought-provoking in that it endeavors to convince its audience that we can actually exercise anywhere, as long as we have the awareness of preserving health by exercise. Nowadays a large number of people engage in brainwork, and lack adequate physical movement. Moreover, many of them hold this deep-rooted view that in order to exercise they must squeeze time from their full schedule to go to a gym. Therefore they tend not to exercise simply due to their scanty time. However, the fact is that it is quite easy for everybody to exercise while walking on streets, traveling on buses, and even lying on bed—say, doing yoga.
I reckon that the consciousness of maintaining health is significant for both individuals and the whole society. On the individual level, it is vividly evidenced by the man in the picture that his exercise improves his health and mood as well. On the social level, the improvement in quality of life contributes vastly to a harmonious society.

The hen mirrors a phenomenon that permeates our society, that is, businesses utilize the basic features of their products and services as the selling points for their advertisement campaigns. These “beautiful promises” tend to shape a false impression in the consumers’ mind that the products and services are of extraordinary characteristics. In this sense, the promise of one’s own responsibility is like a method of cheating, and is quite against professional morals, although there is no evidence of dishonesty if the words are examined literally.
In my point of view, other than promising what one should do, the secret for business success is to have the consumers understand what extra advantages they would be provided with. Such an initiative can push businesses to conduct profound research, dedicate themselves to innovation, and concentrate on quality improvement and perfection, thus leading to healthy industry development and positive social effects. Consequently, businesses themselves are surely to benefit more from a wholesome market environment.

A first glance at this cartoon tells us that a matchmaker is attempting to create a crush between a man and a woman. But the veil on the head of the bride-to-be covers the fact that she is old and ugly, quite opposite to what the matchmaker is advertising. The picture further points out that the matchmaker symbolizes false advertisements and the woman low-quality products.
The cartoon subtly reveals a phenomenon frequently happening in our society—the false commercial advertising and promotion. Their emergence firstly owes to the negative effect of a growing market economy which emphasizes competition. Economic loser fail to learn the lesson in retrospect, and dedicate themselves to cheating customers instead of improving the quality of products and services. False advertisement, seems to be most convenient to attract clients and increase profit in the short run.
However, false advertising can greatly endanger individuals and the whole society. In the long run businesses may damage their own images by fake propaganda, which hurts consumer confidence. As the Chinese saying goes, “those who play fire are bound to get burned”, it is only by genuine advertisement and qualified products that an enterprise can prosper.

As the two graphs obviously portrayed, American population in 1980 was 250 times than that in 1800, a trend accompanied by the extinction of nearly 70 kinds of wildlife in the past 300 years. A clear correlation is suggested that mankind has exerted a tremendously negative influence on natural species.
There are many factors responsible for the aforementioned tendency. First and foremost, to satisfy the space demand for the booming population, the only available solution for Americans is to take occupation of forests and grassland. that used to be habitat of wild animals and plants. Furthermore, the process of industrialization and urbanization has generated severe pollution that essentially destroys environment and ecosystem.
In my point of view, the dearth of wildlife today forecasts an unpromising future for humans tomorrow. In order to eliminate species extinction, relevant laws and regulations must be established and enforced to maintain a large portion of unspoiled areas. Effective measures should also be applied to ensure that the impact of pollution be removed.

The picture depicts a scene in which residents of Earth all try their best to obtain water from outer space. Crowds of people are crammed in the one window, stretching their hands outwards with bowls to catch one or two drops of rain. Further examination reveals that the window actually is dramatized as the window of Earth.
Apparently, the picture symbolizes that humans, with such a huge population, may one day suffer from the exhaustion of resources. Take water for example. Water is indispensable. We find that the unbalanced distribution of the resource poses a difficult problem to the rapidly increasing human population as how to maximize the value of water. To make it worse, pollutions from industrial production transform many clean rivers into undrinkable water.
If the tendendy of population boom and shortage of resources is not properly controlled, we have every reason to hold a pessimistic perspective towards human’s future on Earth. Perhaps eventually we would face the situation suggested by the picture, that is, relying on the limited resources from outer space. Accordingly, I strongly recommend that the whole globe launch aggressive programs to address this serious problem.

Lacking knowledge regarding the significance of ecological balance, businessmen sent out ships that insatiably chased fishes and thus posed a severe threat to all life in the sea.
