1、Time Management and Listening Class By Joyce 鞠然 科英班 These days, mounting numbers of people have been infected with procrastination, so time management, inevitablely , has been a vital skill that everybody should possesses. Here are my strategies of time management: So , how to start our day ? L
2、et’s put the most difficult and complicated task on the top of the list and finish it at first. Because in the morning , you have the highest level of concentration and mental excitement. Besides , you’ll find it easier to concentrate your attention on you task for 45 minute then have a brief rest
3、than you to work hard on one thing for all morning, so ,take a breath after you sweating through .what I have mentioned above indicate that listing your daily task on a note is important, it’s a good way to remember your tasks and effectively finish it ,when you have done one ,you can elide it. We
4、 are in the golden time of our life. We shouldn’t procrastinate anymore. Reduce our time of update our microblogs , walk out of the dormitory, and pay more attention on reading some helpful books, taking more helpful classes, and geting more certifications. As one of basic language skills, list
5、ening is an integral part of English learning. Therefore, as an undergraduate student majored in English., I used to spend plenty of my spare time on practicing my listening by doing some listening test but failed to improve effectively. Then ,by accident, a teacher of New Oriental told us th
6、at to improve your listening skills, your practice shouldn’t be limited to the listening materials, some efforts have to be made to improve your oral English . As long as you comprehend the language customs of native speakers, you’ll find listening practice is a piece of cake. To prove it is ture, f
7、rom the beginning of this semester, I got up early and had my morning-reading on daily practice. During this process, I always repeat after VOA broadcasters, the obvious benefits of this routine are not restricted to the improvement of my English speaking and listening skills, but also evident among
8、 my extended word-base which is also a vital part of English study. Furthermore , I enjoy watching American TV series , and sometimes I follow the actor’s lines. This semester, we have been using different textbook from other classes on listening class. Now , Let’s start to compare these two mate
9、rials :LISTEN TO THIS,(LET’S CALL IT LTT FOR SHORT HEREAFTER) which was used by other classes, and the other book named English Listening for College Students( LET’S CALL IT ELCS HEREAFTER)used by us . The differences of these two textbooks vary in different aspects. Let’s just consider the pattern
10、which I think differs most. LTT is more complex, I had to listen more than 4 times when I was listening to the tape of LISTEN TO THIS. But in our class, two times was enough in most of time. For the simple reason that you have to finish several tasks at the same time during one section of LTT. Mayb
11、e because I have to listen to it repeatedly that I can’t focus on the mainbody of the conversation, sometimes, after I finished the tasks, still, I haven’t gotten the mean idea of this section . I think this situation is damaging our English listening habits. It is not listening comprehension but ju
12、st “listen and answer the questions.” But in LTT, there is a part called “prediction”, I think it is a very helpful part which should be used for reference by other listening materials. The two materials also share a lot of merits. For example, both of them have recorders with diverse accents whic
13、h contribute to our capacity of catching the focal information of the conversations under different situation or with people from different countries. And the materials, although pointing at different aspects, provided us abundant knowledge of foreign cultures in multiple ways. ELCS concludes the cu
14、ltures and traditions of Chinese, Europe history ,etc. What LISTEN TO THIS contains were mostly the daily conversations , it sometimes mentioned something that frequently emerged in our normal daily life. For example the names of some foreign places , specific foods and famous people . Then , I thi
15、nk the mode of our class is quite excellent. Listening classes , after all, are set for us to improve our listening skills, and luckily our teacher is knowledgeable and experienced ,she can enrich the class with many interesting things(her fantastic experiences). Moderate prolongation is necessary. But in next semester we will have our TEM- 4 examination. I hope we can choose one or two classes for some simulation tests.
