Pre-writing activities
StepⅠ: Show teaching Aims
Get the students to know the learning aims: to talk about movies and learn how to write movie reviews.
StepⅡ: Warm up and Lead in
1. Review
T: Do you like watching movies? What kind of movies do you know? Which kind do you like best? Why?
(Get a student to answer, the other students may add other names of the movies.)
Ss: Cartoon, comedy, action movie and scary movie.
Then show some posters of movies and have the students to the names of the movies.

T: What else ? (Show some pictures of which are about the movies that they watched. )

Show pictures of the movie Journey to the West and ask them.

It’s a movie review about Mulan. Writing a movie review is a great way of expressing your opinion of a movie. The purpose of most reviews is to help the reader in determining （决定）whether they want to watch, rent or buy the movie.

Help the Ss make sure the composition must include the following things before they start to write their own movie reviews.

2.Write the first draft起草初稿
T: I will give you several minutes to write your own movie review down.
Choose one student to write his/her movie review on the blackboard.
3. Revise the first draft修改初稿
After all the students finish writing, first check the composition on the blackboard with all the students according to the following evaluation scale.

Does he/she mention what the movie is about?

Does he/she mention what he/she thinks of the movie/stars?

Does he/she use the simple present tense and the simple past tense?

Are there any grammatical mistakes?

Choose several students to evaluate the composition item by item in the evaluation scale.
4. Ask the Ss to check their own compositions according to the above evaluation scale.

4. 激活学生的背景知识。关于《花木兰》的电影及海报是学生熟悉和喜欢的，利用图片激发学生的学习兴趣。

6.对于3a 的处理比较详细，引导学生通读短文掌握大意，再根据上下文选词填空，然后提出问题帮助学生理清文章脉络，为学生仿写打下了基础。
7. 为了顺利完成本节内容，课前有必要让学生上网或通过同学了解事先所列出的电影。并对电影情节及演员情况做初步讨论。
不足之处：因为学生了解的电影较少和有限的词汇，不能很好的展开讨论，因此写出的影评内容不够丰富。
使用建议:
课前务必要求学生观看《花木兰》并查阅影评相关信息为本节课学习做好准备。教师鼓励学生对看过的电影加以回忆，也可以到网上查寻。到学生中调查了解他们所熟悉的电影，恰当使用多媒体教学，提供学生感兴趣的写作话题。
