Looking For Job
(A girl walked in the street, turning here and there , seeing one company after another , but found no courage to come in )
(She stopped in front of one company , and this time managed to get in .)
[A man sat near the door]
Man : Who is the man you want to meet ?
Girl : Any one , I am looking for something to do .
Man : Oh , you want to see Mr. G , sit down there please ,and he will come soon.
[He pointed a chair near the wall]
Man : Mr. G ,this young woman wants to see you .
[Mr.G turned about towards the girl ]
Mr. G : What can I do for you , miss ?
[He asked , looked her curiously]
Girl : I want to know if I can get a job ?
Mr. G : As what ?
Girl : Anything if possible.
Mr. G : Do you have any experience in goods business ?
Girl : No , sir .
Mr. G : Can you use a typewriter ?
Girl : No , sir .
Mr. G : Well we haven’t anything here , we only employ the person who can support experience
[She began to step to the door , and something sad in her face attracted him ]
Mr. G : Have you worked at anything before ?
Girl : No , sir .
Mr. G : Well , now , it’s impossible that you would get anything to do in business of this kind . Have you ever tried the department stores ?
Girl : no , sir .
Mr. G : Well if I were you ,I would try the department , they often need young women as clerks.
Girl : Thank you
Mr. G : Yes ,you must try the department ,and you will start you new life .
[Then he went away]
[The girl walked out the door , and walked to the nearest department ]
(In the office of the department manger )
Manger : Now ,have you ever worked in any other store ?
Girl : No , sir .
Manger : Oh , you haven’t.
[The manger looking at her keenly ]
Girl : No , sir .
Manger : Eell we prefer young women just now with some experience . I guess we can’t use you .
[The girl want to stay there for a moment to see if she have any chance to be employed.]
Manger : Don’t wait ! Remember we are very busy .
[The girl began to move quickly to the door.]
[When the girl walked out the office , she cried]
