Sun Jiadong, China's top space scientist, is considered as a pioneer in the research of

Sun will never forget the moment when the song Dongfanghong was played in space in 1970. Sun was the technical director of Dong Fang Hongl (DFH-1). DFH-1, China's first man-made satellite， was successfully launched （发射） on April 24， 1970． The then41-year-old director was excited and proud when his hard work paid off. “I took part in the project, and experienced all of the ups and downs along the path to success," Sun said.
Sun can still remember the dark hours 'clearly. China's early space explorers were faced with difficult research conditions and limited resources. One example is that China's first recoverable （可收回的） satellite exploded （爆炸） in the sky in 1974． It was a project directed by Sun. “For three days and nights, we stayed in the desert and searched through parts of the spacecraft.
