On Halloween, Debbie’s school held varieties of festival activities, every classroom decorated with flowers and toys. All classmates were dressing up. Debbie joined in it and wore a Ghost Face mask and costume. They all had fun pretending to be their favorite characters. Unrecognized, he was walking through the door to his classroom when he overheard his classmate Jack telling his roommates: “I have never seen an uglier face than Debbie’s.” On hearing this, Debbie felt sad and disappointed, leaving secretly. Summer happened to stand behind Debbie and meet the incident, but it was too late to stop it. As Debbie’s best friend at school, Summer thought Debbie was a nice boy and deserved to be treated kindly.
After a second thought, Summer went to Jack’s room.

My sister and I grabbed the signs and we posted them along our street as well as along the surrounding streets. The whole time, I was incredibly sad and worried about our dog. All I could think about was how cold it was and how cold our dog must be. My sister wanted to go home, so I told her I’d walk her home, but then keep looking for the dog myself.

I got in panic for a moment, but then thought of a good idea. I quietly went to the nearest store to buy some vegetables. I went back home and cut them up to make a salad for my father. When I gave it to him, he said, “Oh, Christine, what a beautiful salad! You must be taking very good care of my garden.” My father looked happy, but I felt a little bit guilty.

Perhaps it was best to wait for the weather to settle before returning. But it only got worse-the waves grew higher, finally damaging one of the engines. The fishermen did not panic still, quickly repairing what was possible to fix. Then, early on Tuesday morning, the radar broke, as did the anchor. Exhausted and frightened, the seven men stayed close to each other as the violent sea tried to destroy their boat. For lack of shelter, they soon lost whatever food and water they had.
Feelings of hopelessness hit Rao, but he refused to give in. As the boat threatened to capsize for the 10th time, he drew on years of fishing experience and tried controlling the boat through the angry waves. Twice, he nearly lost friends to the sea, but somehow, with his heart in his mouth, while motivating them, Rao managed to pull them back in. Finally, the waves calmed down. But the men didn’t know how to get back home. Rao tied an orange towel on a pole, hoping someone could notice them.
