Under One Roof
Catherine is a 24-year-old girl. She has graduated from the world-renowned university--California Institute of Technology. And undoubtedly she found a high-paid job in New York. She is always good at every subject and her motto is that “ Where excellence is not an action but a habit.” To be honest, Catherine is a really outstanding, beautiful and amazing girl, but sometimes has a little bit mysophobia and defiant.
Kate and Rose are 23-year-old twins. Both of them have graduated from a famous university--New York University this year and they have found a job here. Kate is the older sister. She is friendly to everyone she meets but a timid girl. However, Rose is more sociable and outgoing and she is an absolutely straightforward girl, that is to say, she likes to call a spade a spade.
Catherine has rented a flat in New York and recently her two roommates has moved out. Coincidently, the landlord leased the house to the twins. The three girls, therefore, became roommates.
Kate and Rose moved into the flat at one afternoon but Catherine was working in the company at this time. The twins did the housework the whole afternoon and also cooked dinner for themselves and their roommate--Catherine.
It was seven o’clock. Catherine came back home as usual and of course, she met her two new roommates the landlord has mentioned before. The twins were very excited to see Catherine and invited her to eat dinner together.
“ Hello! Catherine. I’m Rose. This is my older sister Kate. We are twin sisters. Nice to meet you! Would you like to have dinner together?”
“ Yes. We have cooked dinner for you!” Kate added.
“ That’s OK, but I have eaten the dinner in the company. Thank you all the same.” Catherine replied coolly and went straight back to her room.
“ Maybe she is a little bit tired. Let’s have the dinner.” Kate said to Rose.
After a little while, Catherine walked out and into the bathroom to have a shower.
“ Ah~, my towel! ” Catherine screamed.
“ What’s up? ’’ Kate rushed into the bathroom from the kitchen with an apron on the waist.
“ Why do you put your towel on mine? It’s important to pay attention to personal hygiene! ’’ Catherine was in rage.
“ Our towel is new, we don’t care yours. How can you say that? ” Rose felt angry.
“ The space is very limited so we just put our towel on yours for a while before we found another place. ” Kate explained.
Catherine didn’t say anything but close the door of the bathroom. The twins looked at each other and then went back to their work. The first night is end in an unpleasant atmosphere.
In the morning, Rose prepared the breakfast for Kate and herself, also for Catherine. Rose wanted to show kindness to Catherine but she seemed to not appreciated. After washing and dressing, Catherine immediately walked out without having breakfast and greeting with the twins.
“ Why she is so rude to us? I even don’t want to see her face. ’’ Rose muttered.
“ Stop complaining. I believe that everything will be okay. ” Kate smiled to Rose.
After the breakfast, the twins went to work as well.
Time quickly passed by, it was seven in the evening again and all three girls have came back to flat. After the dinner, Kate was doing the housework and Rose was reading the book belonging to Catherine on the sofa. Catherine was busy finishing an excel which was required to hand in to boss on the sofa too. Everything seemed to be normal. After a little time, Rose unintentionally threw the book on the tea table.
Catherine found it and spoke with an unhappy voice, “ It’s an elegantly bound edition, you can’t threw it! I don’t think I wound lent my book to any more.”
“ Oh, sorry, Catherine. I am not on purpose.” Kate apologized.
“ Kate is always a careless girl. Forgive her please.” Rose said.
“ I have no time gossiping with you.” Catherine put the book on the bookshelf and walked into her room.
Before dawn, a man broke into the flat to steal the girls’ money, phones and computer. The thief made a noise which waked the twins up. The two girl realized a stranger have entered the room. Even though they scared but kept quiet and crept to the Catherine’s room to wake her up. Catherine called the police at once in a very low voice, and she asked the twins to carry a “weapon” in hand such as mop or broom. They walked to the man cautiously. Catherine smeared chili powder on his face when the thief was looking for money carefully.
“ Ah~ Ah~Ah! ” the man screamed.
“ Kate! Used the mop to beat him down. Rose, find the string to tie him up! ” Catherine spoke loudly.
The man was captured under their joint efforts. The police came soon and took the man away.
“ We’ve done a good job! Girls! ” Catherine smiled to the twins.
“ You look so calm when facing danger, we can’t catch the man without your order.” Kate patted Catherine on the shoulder.
“ Catherine, you are so brave just now. If you are a man, I think I will fall in love with you.” Rose hugged Catherine.
“ Ha~ha, I am always so brave! ’’ Catherine answered.
“ We are happy to meet such a brave family number! ” Kate said.
“ Yeah! We are a family now because we live under one roof! ” Rose said happily.
“ I don’t mind becoming your family member if you can treat my book well, Rose! ” Catherine answered.
“ Of course, I will.” Rose cheered.
“ Ha~Ha~Ha~”
The three girls forgot the unpleasant experience before and lived happily together under one roof since then.
