一、教学目标
知识目标：
1）掌握本课时相关单词、序数词和5个词组（since then, all kinds of, take a vacation, have fun, as soon as）
2）理解和体会after, as soon as, before, since, until, when, while 引导的时间状语从句。
技能目标
1）听：通过听力，获取与话题public holidays有关的信息。
2）说：能够围绕public holidays的话题进行交流，进行情景对话。
3）读：正确朗读对话，在朗读中体会学会序数词的朗读及用法等。
情感态度与价值观目标：
增进学生对公共节日的了解，明白各种节日的起因、庆祝方式及意义所在。提高对英语的学习兴趣，实现语言结构与运用能力的全面转型。参加各种英语活动，克服困难，在新环境中进一步树立准确的语言学习观。

二、教学重点和难点
重点：通过训练学生的听、说、读、写能力，掌握时间状语从句。
难点：掌握时间状语中从句的时态形式。

三、教学过程
Step 1 Warm up
Do you know what public holidays there are in China?
When do we celebrate them?
(出示图片) New Year's Day/January the 1st
May Day (Labour Day)/May the 1st
the Spring Festival/between late January and early February
(可采取互问互答的方式)
Step 2 Present (Activity 1)
Look at the picture and answer the questions.
Activity 1的活动能够使学生明确本单元话题，并为后面的听力活动做铺垫。活动中教师应组织学生观察图片，引导学生表达个人观点。
Step 3 Listen (Activity 2)
听前讨论：见素材二中的问题
听力抢答：动中取静，让学生从上面的讨论中走出，静静地听相关话题的听力材料，完成课本中提供的3个填空题。
Step 4 Listen and read (Activities 3, 4)
Ask students to close their books. Tell them they are going to listen to Tony, Lingling, Betty and Daming talking about different public holidays.
任务：1. 完成增设的听力训练题，见素材四。
2. 完成课本提供的表格，要求学生从对话中提取所需要的细节信息填表。
3. 分角色朗读对话。
4. 让学生观察方框中所给的词汇，然后根据每句话的情境选择相应的词汇。
Step 5 Listen and repeat (Activity 5)
Play the recording for students to listen to and repeat. Play it two or three times.
Step 6 Work in pairs (Activity 6)
1. Say the dates for the class to listen to and repeat after you. After saying them as a class a few times, do the following practice.
2. Ask and answer:
—When is your birthday?
—The tenth of September.
Step 7 Work in groups (Activity 7)
1．Give students time to read the questions and think about their answers.
2. Ask them to choose one of the holidays they have talked about and write down their answers to the questions. Tell them to add any interesting information they can think of.

四、课后反思
学生在专有名词的朗读上略有困难，如The People’s Republic of China, Independence Day等。俗话说“熟能生巧”，课后要多练多读，读的时候多注意单词发音和拼写之间的关系，掌握其中的发音技巧。
