一 教材分析
1、 位置和内容:本节课所上的是人教版英语八年级下册第五单元第一课时。学会谈论过去正在发生的事情是本单元的语言目标。本节课主要学习在由when引导的时间状语的情况下的过去进行时。通过讨论在暴风雨来临时人们在做什么，让学生学习一些暴风雨的基本情况，让他们意识到当我们遇到自然灾害时要团结一致，齐心协力，一同共度过难关。
2、教学重点:过去进行时态：“was / were + doing”结构
when引导的时间状语从句
3、教学难点:掌握由when引导的时间状语如何使用过去进行时。

二 学情分析
我所任教的两个班级的学生在七年级下册就学过现在进行时,大部分学生掌握如何使用现在进行时来描述日常活动,而且掌握了一些日常活动的短语,这有利于他们学习过去进行时。但是还是有部分学生对于现在进行时的构成法不是掌握的很清楚。少部分的学生学习积极性不够高，这需要在教学当中积极鼓励他们。
三 教学目标：
1、知识目标：要求学生掌握使用过去进行时来询问或描述过去进行的事情，并学会用when描述某动作或某事件的发生，稍微了解when和while的区别。
2、能力目标：
1)学习并记住新单词：rainstorm.
短语：at the time of，on the street，at the bus stop, wait for the bus，walk home.
2) 能在交际过程中教流利的运用when和at the time of引导的句型。
What was the girl doing at the time of the rainstorm / when the rainstorm came?
She was doing her homework.
3) 能在听听力的过程中学会抓取和记录关键信息，能够听出连读，弱读的词组。
3、 情感目标：让学生了解暴风雨的基本情况，让他们意识到当我们遇到自然灾害时要团结一致，共同度过难关。
四 教学方法
听说法，学习合作法，任务型教学法，情景交际教学法。

多媒体, 白板, 白板笔, 视屏录像，ppt翻页笔

六 教学步骤
Step1 Lead-in
Ask Ss to watch a video about rainstorm to lead into the topic.
T: Let’s watch a video, pay attention to the weather. Then tell me what the weather is like.
(设计意图：通过观看关于暴风雨的视频，让学生感受一下自然灾害的威力，让他们初步意识到如果我们遇到自然灾害，我们要团结一致，共同度过难关。同时激发学生的思维，活跃课堂气氛，激起学生表达的欲望。）

Step2 Presentation
1. Make sure the task of this lesson.
1)、学习并记住新单词：rainstorm.
短语：at the time of，on the street，at the bus stop, wait for the bus，walk home.
2)、会使用句型。
What was the girl doing at the time of the rainstorm?
She was doing her homework.
(设计意图：通过明确本课任务，让学生知道本课所需要学习及掌握的内容。）
2. Check whether Ss preview by doing some exercises on ppt.
1. 当…的时候 ______________________
2. 在街上 ______________________
3. 在公交车站 ______________________
4. 等公交车 ______________________
5.走路回家 ______________________
(设计意图：通过预习检测，以便知道学生课前预习的情况，也有便于培养学生的预习习惯。）
3. Review some sentences of present continuous tense.
T: Look at the picture, what is he doing now？
Ss: He is playing football.
T: What was he doing at three yesterday afternoon?
Ss: He was playing football.
(设计意图：使用动态的照片，复习七年级所学的现在进行时，再引入过去进行时，这更易于提高学生对过去进行时的接受度。）
4. Show some pictures to study sentence structure.
T: Yesterday, there was a rainstorm. What were they doing when the rainstorm came? Here are some reports.
T: According to the picture, give me the answer. What were you doing when the rainstorm came?
Ss: I was studying in the library.
(设计意图：图片展示，通过一个记者进行采访，学习本课的过去进行时，讨论大家在暴风雨来临时在做什么。）
5. Ask Ss to match the statements with people in the picture of 1a on P33 and check the answers.
(设计意图：通过检测1a, 看学生能否把与图片与相符的句子配对成功。）

Step 3 Listening
1. Listen to the TV report and circle the correct responses.
2. Listen again and repeat the listening material.

(设计意图：通过听力练习， 让学生在听听力的过程中学会抓取和记录关键信息，提高学生的听力能力。）

Step 4 Drill
1. Talk about what the people in 1a were doing at the time of the rainstorm.
A: What was the girl doing at the time of the rainstorm?
B: She was doing her homework.
（the boy, the man, the woman）
(设计意图：巩固1b中的听力内容，练习本课句型）
2. Ask Ss to look at the pictures of ppt and answer the questions by using “was/were + doing”.
A:What was Li Lei doing when the rainstorm came?
B: He was playing computer games.
(设计意图：通过ppt上的图片，巩固过去进行时的基本结构 was/were + doing.）
3. Ask Ss to make their own conversation and then show their conversations in public.
(设计意图：练习对话，提高学生的口语交际能力）
4. Ask a student to interview classmates what they were doing when the rainstorm came.
T: I want one of you as a reporter to interview your classmates what they were doing when the rainstorm came.
(设计意图：利用情景教学法，邀请一位学生当记者来采访其他同学暴风雨来临时他们在做什么，让他们感觉在真实的环境中练习，更能提高学生的口语能力，方便以后他们在实际生活中能够运用所学知识。）
Step 5 Explanation
What was the girl doing at the time of the rainstorm?
1).本句是过去进行时态,该时态表示过去某时间某动作正在进行,由助动词was/ were+ v-ing
2).at the time of “当…的时候”
e.g. He was still working at the time of lunch.
e.g. What were you doing at nine yesterday morning?
--I was playing in the park.
(设计意图：通过对知识点的具体讲解，为学生解决疑惑，加强学生知识的理解。）

Step 8 Homework
1. Remember new words.
2. Do the exercises of 学法 on P44。
3. Preview the content on P34.
