Learning Goals:
In this lesson, the students will learn to use “What do/ does ... look like?” to ask about people’s looks. The Ss should master how to tell the apperances of diffenert people with the words– tall, short, heavy, thin, be of medium (build), have (has) ...hair/ eyes/ face etc. after finishing the listening and speaking tasks. The Ss can also learn to tell the looks of their friendss, families and classmates in our daily life.
Teaching and learning steps:
Step I . Revision
Show four pictures of different people. Suppose thet are the students’ friends. Let the students make their own conversations according to the pictures with the sentence patterns “ What does he/ she look like? He/ She is...or He/She has...hair. ”

Step II . Pre-listening activities
1. Preview
Ask the Ss to translate the following Chinese into English. First ask the Ss to put them into English orally, then let them write English down without looking at the textbooks.

2. Lead in
(1)Show a photo of a famous host Li Yong who works for CCTV 3. Tell the students to talk about what Li Yong looks like. To describe Li Yong more detailes, the teacher can give the students some clues such as in the ways of his hair, his build(height) , his face and his eyes.
He is tall and thin. He has curly brown hair. He has a long face and he has small eyes.Also, he doesn’t wear glasses.
(2)Next, let’s come to 1a. What do the people in the pictures look like?Match the words with the pictures.

Step III. While-listening activities
1. Listen and find the general idea.
Tell the Ss that Laura and Bob are talking about two famous persons—Johnny Dean and Tina Brown. Ask the Ss to listen to their conversation and find out:

2. Listen to the conversation more carefully and find the details

1. Read and retell
(1)Play the tape and ask the Ss to read the tape script after the tape and prepare for retelling.
(2)Let the Ss fill in the blanks in the rewriting passage. First give the Ss time to practice it by themselves. Then the Ss do it with the teacher. Last choose one or two Ss to retell the conversation individually.

预习部分的词组和句子都是本节课的重要语言知识，该部分预习内容可以帮助学生更有目的性的预习。同时通过检测学生的预习效果，教师可以更有针对性地教，学生可以更有针对性的学。导入部分，给学生创设易于理解的语用情景，并逐步引导学生谈论朋友及名人的外貌，让学生体会到所学的语言在生活中是可以学以致用的。家庭作业分层布置，让学习能力强的同学做更能体现他们高水平的作业。不足之处在于学生对多个形容词的排放顺序容易混淆，教师应该多指导学生如何陈述句子并描述实际人物多加练习，结合情境，做到学以致用。

不足：
听力内容有些难度，占用时间稍长的原因，在听后活动这一环节时间稍紧，课堂显得匆忙。

使用建议：
1．一定要提前布置给学生预习内容，便于学生更有目的性的去预习，提高课上做题速度。
2．尽可能创设生活情境，让学生介绍自己的同学的长相并在实际生活中能够学以致用，培养学生学习英语的兴趣，让他们在说中逐步感知语言知识。
