Teaching Aims:
1. To help the students learn the key phrases by means of peer- learning. 
2. To enable the students to get familiar with the process in the water cycle with the help of the map.
3. To practice the students’ speaking abilities by summarizing and the role play.
4. To arouse the students’ awareness of saving water.

Multi-media, tape recorder, hand-outs
Teaching Difficulties:
1.Names of different places in the process of the water cycle
(e.g. reservoir, water treatment works, sewage plant)
2.Verb phrases
(e.g float ; drop… into…; speed down ; carry…into…; travel ; get cleaned up; give…a thorough cleaning; add…to; finish with, pump… into)
Teaching Procedure:
I. Warming-up
1) Guess the name of a picture ‘The Water Cube Olympic Stadium’.
2) Answer some questions according to a video show about the water cycle.

II. Presentation
1) Tell where we can find water in our daily life.
2) Learn names of different places: reservoir, water treatment works, sewage plant.
3) Listen to the tape and take notes of the important words.
4) Read the passage on the textbook and fill in the names of places on the map.
5) Discuss in groups to find the key verb phrases.
6) Learn some key verb phrases and do a blank-filling exercise.
7) Summarize the process of the water cycle with key phrases and the names of places listed.
8) Perform a role play: An interview about the water cycle.  
III. Product
1. Students have a clear mind of what the water cycle is and how it works.
2. Students come to realize the value of saving water and feel responsible for doing so.

IV. Assignment
1. Copy the new words and phrases.
2. Write a short paragraph to describe the process of the water cycle.
3. Read the paragraphs 6~11 and recite it.
