Revision
Teach the new words in this lesson.
Ask some questions. For example, Do you want an e-pal? What do you want to tell an e-pal?  How do you say “Look!” using body language? What do you want to do after school? What will you need to do it? etc.
Pronunciation
Write down all the sound symbols from the previous three units on the board and ask if the students can pronounce each sound.
T: Today, we will start with pronunciation. The focused sounds we have learned through Unit 1 to 3 are as follows. Read every sound.
Tell the students to match the phonetic symbol to the word with the sound and write one more word for each sound.
T: First, match the sound to the word presented, then write more words that have each sound.
Go over each sound. To add interest, develop this part as a word game. The students can work in pairs or groups. The group with the most words wins the game.
T: Great! And let me remind you that you need to know how to pronounce each word. You may not have perfect pronunciation like someone born in an English-speaking country, but it is important to acquire clear and comprehensible pronunciation if you want to communicate well.
Stress
Listen and circle the stressed syllable.
T: Mark the stressed syllables of the words in bold first. After that, we will listen to the sentences. You probably know how to say the words properly. I believe it won’t be too hard for you to mark the stressed syllables even before listening to the tape.
  Compare your marks with your partner’s. Do you agree on every word?
S: Yes / No.
T: Good. Let’s check the correct answers now by listening.
  Now, tell me, where does the stress fall on wallet?
S: It falls on the first syllable.      T: Yes, that is correct.
After going over all the answers with the class, let them repeat after the tape, sentence by sentence. If time allows, play the tape again and let the students circle the stressed syllables on each word.
Pair work
Have the students practice the dialogue with their partner.
T: Look at the pictures and complete the dialogues first. I want you to practice the dialogue with your partner.
Have the students choose one of the situations and create their own dialogues.
1. T: The girl is talking about what to do tomorrow?
Possible Answers
A: Hello, Sally. Is tomorrow your test day?
B: Yes, it is. I’m worried now.
A: You are? Why?
B: Well, I don’t know what I need to bring with me.
A: Oh, well, my mother is a teacher. I will ask her today.
B: Great! Thanks!
2. T: The boy is talking about his new classmate.
Possible Answers
A: Hi, Mike. Did you see the new student who came to our class?
B: Yes, he seems nice.
A: Really? Do you know his name?
B: No, I’ll ask him today.
3. T: The girl is talking about something she is going to do next week.
Possible Answers
A: Hey! Did you hear? We are going on a school trip next week.
B: Really? Great, we’ll have fun!
A: Yeah, but I don’t know what I need to bring with me.
B: I’ll ask Susan today. She will know.
A: Good idea.
Model Dialogue
A: Pete, did you hear that our class is going on a picnic next week?
B: Really? It will be fun.
A: I think so, too. But I don’t know where to meet the class.
B: The teacher will tell us about it tomorrow.

Revise the words that we have learnt.

Practice reading the sounds correctly.

Read and circle the stressed syllable correctly.

Practice acting out the passage on page 27.
