Ⅰ Lead-in
1. Show a video of the presentation of “2009 快乐男声”. Then answer the following questions:
a) What is the name of the programme you watched just now?
b) Who won the greatest award?
c) Is it coverd live now?
2. Show some pictures while to present new words and expressions
e.g. ①新闻节目。教师：I like watching news report because I can get a lot of up-to-date information. Sometimes I don’t have enough time, so I just listen to a weekly round-up of what is happening in the world.
②体育节目。教师：Some of you like to watch sports. So I don’t think you want to miss some important games, for example, Asian Games and Olympic Games. We are so lucky to watch the 29th Olympic Games in 2008. Because it was held in summer, we could watch the games which were covered live. I believe everyone was deeply moved by the opening ceremony. It’s reported that more than 60 thousand people attended it. The Olympic Games cover all kinds of games. And after each game, we can watch a presentation. At the presentation, the results of the game are announced and the medals are presented to the winners.
③电影。教师：Many people like movies. And some Chinese movies won awards in the world for their stories, directors, music, etc. For example, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon directed by Li An won an Oscar for its wonderful photography.

1. Ask students to read the two web pages then help Millie to make a TV guide.

五、阅读理解
This is a song million of Americans will hear this on New Year’s Eve. It is called Auld lang Syne(《友谊天长地久》) .It is the traditional music played during the New Year’s celebration. Auld lang Syne is an old Scottish poem. It tells about the need to remember old friends.
The words“Auld lang Syne” mean “old long since”. No one knows who wrote the poem first. However, a version(译文) by Scottish poet Robert Burns was published(出版) in 1796. The words and music we know today first appeared in a songbook three years later.
The song is played in the United States mainly on New Year’s Eve. The version you are hearing today is by the Washington Saxophone Quartet. As we end our program with Auld lang Syne, I would like to wish all of our radio friends a very Happy New Year! This is Buddy Thomas.
