学情分析
My students are poor at English, so I didn’t design too many complicated activities. They are suitable for my students. I focus on the basic knowledge of the text book. I also pay attention to the students in different levels. Every student can learn something from the period, and they can learn happily in this class.
重点难点
1. Understanding the main idea of three passages.
2. Using sound+adj, make sth+adj correctly.
3. learning some related expressions about potatoes.

【导入】猜个简单的谜语来揭示今天的主要知识结构“used　to　do　sth.”。学会分析和替换,进行练习
I.Pre-task preparation:
To bring in today’s topic ---- “used to do sth.” by having students guess a riddle with the help of some pictures as well.  —— (the answer is “an English teacher—— Ms. Zhu”)
To have them compare the two clauses of the sentences in the riddle. And then make a choice about the time of the action “answering questions in class”, in the future, now or in the past?
To help them explain or paraphrase the phrase by using “used to do sth. = often did sth. in the past”. Keep it on the blackboard
To have students finish paraphrasing the rest of the riddle by using what they’ve learned.
To have them read after the teacher —— “used to do sth.”
通过让学生猜个简单的谜语来揭示今天的主要知识结构“used to do sth.”。通过对于句中前后两个分句的对比让学生自己很容易地猜出此结构的大概含义和用法，并且学会使用另一种方法区揭示和替换。进行必要的理解性保持 句意的操练进行巩固，并通过板书体现并留下供学生之后操练中作为参考。

II.While-task procedures:
To practice the phrase “used to do sth.” in a sentence.
To have students practice “used to do” with the help of some pictures and the phrases given on the screen.
To let students think about a question which can be used to ask for the things they used to do. — “What did they use to do?” (Pay attention to the use of “did”.)
To develop the sentences with the structures of “not … any longer / more” and the adverb “instead”.
To show another two pictures about a pair of children with some bad habits. Have students finish the first part of the sentence with “be used to do”. And according to the second picture, to show them how to develop the sentence with “not…any longer/more” and “instead”. (Because the two things are not new to them, teacher should have them think over and try to find the answer themselves. If necessary, some hints can be given to them. ) 把此两者也写进板书。
While making the sentences, the new vocabulary “asleep” and its word derivation should be taught as well. Give them a sentence and choose someone to show the meaning of it by body language to check understanding.
To show the target patterns on the screen and some other pictures, and have students practice following the example.
(pair work) A. Before the pair work: Teacher will emphasize on the structure we used and introduce the negative form of it. And of course it is very important to put it onto the blackboard. “didn’t use to do sth. = didn’t often do sth. in the past” (1. 要注意先由后面引出前面；2. 让学生注意后面结构中副词often 所摆放的位置。)
B. To give them 2 minutes to prepare for the description of themselves by using the same structure. And then when they start to do the presentation, they will required to introduce their partners’ instead of theirs. (陈述时介绍对方的内容目的让所有人学会倾听对方的发言；学生准备时两种结构始终显示在屏幕上以示提醒。)
注意在操练过程中始终在板书或投影上有所要操练的巨型的基本结构可供学生参考。而学习和操练的过程也是由易到难，句子由短到长。
【活动】主题讨论：good　habits　and　bad　habits
III.Post-task activity
Pair work: Discussion : To make a dialogue about “bad habits, good habits!”
1) Another 2 minutes for preparation for a dialogue about bad habits and good habits. In the dialogue, students will talk about the bad habits they used to have and what they have done about them. And also they will talk about the bad habits they still have today and what they are going to do about them. (Pay more attention to the tenses they will use in the dialogue.)
在课结束前根据板书上本节课的知识技能的重点老师带领学生朗读并再次突出重点。
【作业】归纳总结，作业布置
IV. Assignment
Write a short passage with at least 10 sentences about the topic “Bad habits, good habits!”
Give students a sentence to think about —— “Used to is used to express what we often did in the past.” There are 2 “use”s in the sentence, and have students think it over and try to find out the difference between the two use-phrases.
