一：教材分析。
本单元以“ What were you doing when the UFO arrived”为课题。谈论如何使用过去进行时。如何使用过去进行时是本单元的重难点。通过观察图片,利用图片进行情景思维,学会讲故事,俩俩对话,角色扮演等形式和独立学习,合作交流,完成任务等来培养学生的综合语言运用能力,创新意识和实践能力。
教学理念
学会使用While 和when 引导的状语从句表示时间；学会运用过去进行时描述过去某个时刻正在发生的事情；学会按照一定的逻辑顺序讲述过往经历；讲述一段故事。在本单元的学习中，着重培养学生根据上下文把握文段整体意义的能力、恰当的语言表述能力和故事表演能力。
二：教学目标。
（1）知识目标：A、重点词汇
bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, UFO, alien, barber’s chair.cutting hair, climbing ,jumping.
   land ,get out of ,take off, in front of .scared
  B、学习 过去进行时与 When ,while引导的时间状语从句
（2）能力目标：谈论在学校和家庭中遇到的麻烦和问题，培养交际能力; 为他人找到合理的解决办法，提出相应的建议。
（3）情感目标： 让学生学会自己解决问题并给他人提出建议，增进彼此的友谊。
三：教学重难点。
（一）. 过去进行时
　 过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或者某段时间正在进行或发生的动作，常和表过去的时间状语连用，如：
I was doing my homework at this time yesterday.昨天的这个时候我正在做作业。
They were waiting for you yesterday.他们昨天一直在等你。
过去进行时的构成：
肯定形式：主语+was/were+V-ing 否定形式：主语+was not (wasn’t)/were not (weren’t)+V-ing
疑问形式：Was/Were+主语+V-ing。
使用进行时态的注意事项
 1）一些动词，如see、hear、love、like、know、remember；understand、have等表示感情、知觉和状态的词，一般不用于进行时态。
 2）在there和here引起的句子中，常用一般现在时代替现在进行时。
    eg. Here comes the bus .       There goes the bell.
（二）、1.情态动词表示“应该”、“必须” 　（shall, should, may, might, must, ought to）
2.情态动词表示“意图”、“打算” (will, would, shall, should)
3.情态动词表示“意愿” （will, would, shall, should）

四：活动设计

五：语法。
1、过去进行时 含义： 表示过去某个时刻正在进行的动作。
结构：be（was/ were）+doing
如：（1）What were you doing at nine last night? 昨晚9点你在干什么？
（2）I was doing my homework when he knocked at the door.他敲门的时候，我在做作业。
（3）Was he cleaning the room at this time yesterday? 昨天这个时间他是在打扫房间吗？
2、过去进行时与一般过去时的区别；过去进行时：表示正在进行的动作。 I was reading a novel last night.昨晚我在看小说。（可能还没有看完一般过去时：表示一个完成的动作。I read a novel last night .昨晚我看了一本小说。（已经看完了）
3、When 当……时候（后面跟的动作不延续）
When I came home my wife was cooking dinner. 我回家时，妻子在做晚饭。
The boy was walking down the street when the UFO landed.
当飞碟着陆的时候，那个男孩正走在街上。
4、While 当 ……时候（后面跟的动作延续）
while he was eating ,I asked him to lend me ＄2. 当他正在吃饭时，我请他借给我二美元。
While the boy was walking down the street, the UFO landed.
当那个男孩走在街上的时候，飞碟着陆了。
