这是there be句型的一般过去时，表示过去存在的人或物，结构的现在时变为过去时时，只需要把is变成was，或把are变成were 即可。
如：There was a history museum in this city.

如果there be结构中有两个或更多的主语，谓语常和最接近它的那个主语保持一致。（就近原则）
