1. On Power Shortage 电力短缺
近年来很多城市都出现了电力不足的现象，这也成为社会的一个热点话题，究竟是什么原因造成的呢？
Recently, every morning when I wake up, I find my air-conditioner automatically turned off. I didn’t understand why at first, but soon I learned that there is a great shortage of electricity supply in our city—my air-conditioner turned off because of a power failure midnight.
　With the rapidly developing industry and the ever increasing population, demand for electricity supply is soaring. Besides, summers in recent years are much hotter than before, so most working places and households are air-conditioned, which consumes additional electricity.
　　Faced with such a hard nut, we have to find ways to crack it. Above all, in western areas of China, there is surplus of electricity supply. So, cities that are thirsty for electricity may ask for remote help.
Then, when we have electricity, we should remember to save it. Set your air-conditioners at 270C and you won’t feel less comfortable than when they are at 260C. In fact, some factories already shift their working hours to avoid the peak time of electricity-consuming. My parents don’t work from Monday through Friday as before—they work from Sunday through Thursday and have/take the following two days off instead. This is also a way out, isn’t it? 字串3

     As everyone knows, stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. As the pace of modern life continues to increase, we are always feeling on the go from morning till night. And it is hard to slow down. Different people, however think of stress quite differently. Some believe that stress is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. They are of the opinion that a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. Others argue that stress contributes to one＇s mental decline and hence endangers his health. According to them, relaxation, the opposite of stress, is essential for a healthy mind and body.
Personally, I＇m in favor of the former view. I think it is impossible to avoid stress when one is entirely devoted to the career he pursues. In my opinion, it is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health
3. 2009 Financial Crisis 2009金融危机

      I think we can sum up the cause of our current economic crisis in one word — GREED. Over the years, mortgage lenders were happy to lend money to people who couldn’t afford their mortgages. But they did it anyway because there was nothing to lose. These lenders were able to charge higher interest rates and make more money on sub-prime loans. If the borrowers default, they simply seized the house and put it back on the market.
      On top of that, they were able to pass the risk off to mortgage insurer or package these mortgages as mortgage-backed securities. Easy money! and what went wrong with our financial system? The whole thing was one big scheme. Everything was great when houses were selling like hot cakes and their values go up every month. Lenders made it easier to borrow money, and the higher demand drove up house values. Higher house values means that lenders could lend out even bigger mortgages, and it also gave lenders some protection against foreclosures..
       All of this translates into more money for the lenders, insurers, and investors. Unfortunately, many borrowers got slammed when their adjustable mortgage finally adjusted. When too many of them couldn’t afford to make their payments, it causes these lenders to suffer from liquidity issue and to sit on more foreclosures than they could sell. Mortgage-backed securities became more risky and worth less causing investment firms like Lehman Brothers to suffer. Moreover, insurers like AIG who insured these bad mortgages also got in trouble. The scheme worked well, but it reverses course and is now coming back to hurt everyone . 字串8
4. Brain Drain 人才流失

They claim that Chinese youths should go abroad to study and gain more experience. What’s more, the long-term benefits will outweigh losses we suffer now..
　　Brain drain poses a challenge. China should go all out to attract talented people in order to better compete in the world. For one thing, decent living and working conditions should be offered to specialists. For another, we have to better develop our economy, which is a sure bait for all kinds of talent.
5. Re-employment of Laid-off Workers 下岗再就业
下岗失业，到底应该如何面对？是选择消沉下去，一蹶不振；还是选择排除万难，奋勇向前。路其实在就在自己的脚下，下岗并不可怕，只要正确面对，逆境同样孕育着希望，坎坷也能成财富，照样能铸造辉煌的人生。
　　As we all know, there are more and more laid-off workers in China now mainly because of the rapid changes in the economic reform. Among them are the old and the young, men and women, and even some well-educated graduates. What's more, with more and more workers being laid-off, lots of social problems have appeared.
　　As a result, the issue of re-employment of the laid-off workers has become one of the hot topics and drawn much attention from governments at all levels. A number of solutions are being offered. First of all, re-training programs should be organized to help the laid-off workers to learn new skills to help them keep up with the changing society. Besides, our government should take some necessary measures to createmore new opportunities of employment for these peopie. Finally, colleges and universities should reform their courses to adapt to the development of economy so as to provide qualified studens to meet the needs of society
　　In my opinion, solving the problem of re-employment of laid-off workers needs the effort of the whole society, including our government, the laid-off workers themselves and all those who are ready to offer their help, Moreover, the lay-off workers, especially the well-educated graduates, should lower their standards before looking for satisfying jobs.
6. Don’t Aim High But Accomplish Little 不要眼高手低

   Some people think working under pressure keeps us motivated. Maybe a little pressure does good to us, but too much pressure is not beneficial to students.
    Scientific studies show people working under too much pressure generally don’t perform as well as they do when are not under extreme pressure. Psychologically, too much pressure can lead to mental problems or disorders. In recent years, there has been an increase in stress-related diseases among college and high-school students.
    Psychologists say it is due to too much pressure from their academic studies. A newspaper article says many students admit that they have cheated in exams because of excessive pressure coming from their parents and teachers who demand high marks in their examination. When they fail to live up to their parents’ expectations, some may even commit suicide.
   Student should be self-motivated. Fair competition should be encouraged. Most students do better when they are studying for themselves, not for their parents or teachers and definitely not under more pressure from school.
8. We should have position 我们应该要有立场
我们常说做人要有自己的立场,不能保证自己的每次立场都是正确的,但有必要让别人知道自己的想法,不喜欢就是不喜欢,不愿意就是不愿意,不赞同就是不赞同,过多的为他人考虑,一味的迁就并不是明智的选择虑,一味的迁就并不是明智的选择~

On the one hand, it saves much time, money and effort to purchase goods through media since you do not have to go to the shops in person. 10. 高校的贫困生
If you study in colleges you may have ever noticed some students live under financial hardships Ⅱ They encounter many difficulties in finishing higher education because they are poverty stricken. Their life is hardly known by outsiders——some starve, some seldom buy clothes and still some cannot afford train tickets to return home during vacations.

　　Those impoverished students suffer not only physically but also mentally from their predicament (困境). They worry about tuition (学费) and living expenditure(生活费). Some even suffer mental imbalance. After school, many must work part time, which takes away from studies and may make them do poorly or drop out. In spite of this many are very diligent and are prepared to endure all kinds of hardships.

　　We cannot only sympathize for them. Banks should provide them with interest Wree loans and all the other social sections man give necessary financial aids. Helping these students will enable them to develop abilities and find a suitable career. In the future, well-educated young people will not only improve their own life but will also make our country richer.
11. Do You Prefer High Salary or A Promising Job? （就业时选择高薪还是好的职业）
When it comes to the choice of career, some people prefer the job with high salary. Why?
Their reasons run as following: to begin with, high salary can bring them happy life; in addition, with high salary, they can do whatever they want.
But some others prefer to choose a job with promising future. They base their choice on the following reasons: on one hand, a promising job itself means a raise and promotion in the future; on another hand, job with a bright future will bring them honor and sense of pride.
As for me, if I’m left to make the choice, I’ll not hesitate to choose a promising job. First of all, I appreciate the honor and challenge it brings to me. At the same time, if I work hard, it will offer me a lot of opportunities including high salary, good position, etc.
12. 跳槽的看法(View on Job-hopping)
People have different attitudes towards their work. Some prefer to stick to one occupation as their lifelong career. These people are of the opinion that one can never do his work well unless he is devoted to only one job in his lifetime. So if one changes his job frequently, he will not get the necessary experience needed in his work.
Others, on the other hand, like to change their jobs at times. In their opinion, people work in order to make more money. If they havea chance to get a better paid job, they will certainly try to get this chance. Besides, if a person does only one job all his life, he will certainly be bored with it.

My idea is that interest is the most important if one wants to excel others in his job. So if a person is not interested in his job, job hopping is normal and even necessary. Otherwise, he will suffer from his work, and inevitably, he is not likely to succeed in his career.
