Every year a huge number of graduates from universities dissolve into society, and apply what they have learned in their job positions. Commonly university cultivates students by teaching basic theories and knowledge. However, in some case people find skills or technologies are more constructive in looking for jobs. As a result they are recommending universities to transfer their teaching focus from theories to practical skills. As far as I am concerned, I disapprove of this opinion.
First, history of mankind and current social development would serve as the best evidence to support my opinion. Human society can never develop alone without direction of theories. Nowadays we have obtained outstanding achievements in various fields, such as computer, automobile, space and aviation, gene technology, new energy and so on, all of which could not have been imagined without basic theories.
Besides, the people who have only learned practical skills or technologies without theories in mind are only operators. Actually, if students lack theoretical training in universities, experienced and effective in operation as they might be, they hardly have any creative strength to innovate.
In conclusion, theoretical courses are not as obsolete (已过时的), profitless and unimportant as some people have believed and universities are responsible to strengthen the book theory teaching instead of weakening it.

I am a junior majoring in computer science. At present, I am preparing for the CET-4. Daring the process of preparation, I think I get a clearer view of this national test, and I’d like to express my views on it.
As a student majoring in science I consider English is a helpful tool, and the CET is useful to measure the English proficiency of college students in China. In my case, I learn a lot of knowledge from the information given by the CET. The test result is fairly reliable because it is still one of the basic criteria for employers to hire employees. What’s more, to meet the needs of China’s reform and open-door policy, the offer of the Spoken English Test also helps monitor the students to pay attention to the oral communication skill in daily life.
Nevertheless, there are still a lot of problems emerging out. English is not our native tongue, so we have to spend a lot of time on some items not necessary for our major. After all, too many exams do make us feel stressful, and we sometimes are confused about our motivations for learning English.
I suggest the CET designers apply the high technology to making the CET show more humanistic characteristics, that is to say, the questions in CET can change according to the examinees’ specific circumstance, thus the interactiveness between us and the test will be achieved. In a word, I hope the current reform of CET will be more authentic instead of just bring
