Part one. 英译汉
1. The growth of the internet as a learning and information resource completely changes everything the exhibition industry has had before. Customers no longer rely upon exhibitions to determine what their options may be. They can gather information independently from us, often information of quality and depth that is better than anything we could ever hope to deliver. This means that we must create unique and valuable information resources about the industry that our events serve. We must truly understand what is important to our customers. We must assist our customers by pointing them in many different directions to gather the information that they want and need.

2. Many years ago the world may have worried about the rise of China. Now it welcomes this as truly an opportunity for us all. China’s engagement in the world economy is strengthening, as well as the partnership between our two nations. British trade with china has doubled over the last year alone. This growth is faster than that of any other G8 countries. British is also the largest European investor in China.

5. Today let me give you not a definition but a description of country music in the United States, first of all, the themes in country music are traditionally rural-oriented and very often southern. And the country singer’s voice traditionally had a nasal quality and often a southern or southwestern accent.

6. Environmental pollution is a term that refers to all the way by which man pollutes his surroundings. Man dirties the air with gasses and smoke, poisons the water with chemicals and other substances, and damages the soil with too many fertilizers and pesticides. Man also pollutes his surroundings in various other ways. For example, people ruin natural beauty by scattering junk and litter on the land and in the water. They operate machines and motor vehicles that fill the air with disturbing noise. Nearly everyone causes pollution in some way.

Part two. 汉译英

Australia enjoys rich resources, a developed economy and advanced technology, whereas china has a larger population, a huge market and tremendous potential for development. Our economies are highly complementary. A long-term and stable business cooperation between China and Australia serves the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples. Prime minister john Howard and I had fruitful discussions today and we reached broad agreement on developing China-Australia business cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win outcome in the 21st century. We both agreed to expand our cooperation in trade, investment, energy, mining resources and other fields to accelerate the China-Australia FTA negotiations for mutual benefit and common progress.

The standard work hours every week in china is 40 hours. This gives workers ample times for recreation and educational pursuits. In addition to sports and keep fit activities, photography, stamp collecting, needlework, and gardening are popular leisure pursuits. Other hobbies people enjoy include painting, sculpture, wood and metal work.

4. 环境污染是当今人们所面临的一个严重的问题。被严重污染的空气会引起各种疾病，甚至死亡。被污染的水源会引起鱼类以及其他海洋生物的死亡，被污染的土壤会减少种植农作物的面积。同时环境污染使人们周围美丽的自然环境变得日益丑陋。环境的好坏在一定程度上决定了一个地区的经济发展前景，良好的环境及有力的环境保护措施是保证经济可持续发展的重要前提。
Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems facing mankind today .badly polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. Pollution of soil reduces the amount of land available for growing food. Environmental pollution also brings ugliness to man’s naturally beautiful world. The environmental condition to certain extant determines the prospect of economic development of an area. Benign environment and effective environmental protection measure is a crucial guarantee of sustainable development of economy.

5. 教育事业应当适度超前发展，促进经济社会发展。发展教育，要面向现代化，面向世界，面向未来，着力推动素质教育。中国政府对国际社会倡导的全民教育作出了庄严承诺，并体现在国家发展战略之中。我们制定并实施科教兴国战略，坚持以人为本，树立科发展观，将教育放在优先发展的战略地位。为此，我们不断完善国民教育体系，推进教育可持续发展，把普及九年义务教育、发展职业教育、提高高等教育质量，作为教育发展的三大任务，致力于建设学习型社会。
Education development should be future-oriented so as to contribute to economic development and social progress. We should meet the needs of modernization, the world and the future, and concentrate on quality-oriented education. The Chinese government is solemnly committed to the international community's call for education for all and has incorporated it in its national development strategy. Our strategy is to rejuvenate the nation through science and education, base all our endeavors on the human factor, foster a scientific concept of development, and give education a top strategic priority. Under the framework of that strategy, we are improving our national education system, tackling our three major missions (that is, nine-year compulsory education, vocational education, and improving higher education quality), and building China into a learning society.

6. 联合国如同整个国际社会一样，面临着前所未有的机遇，也面临着非同寻常的挑战。为了更好地适应不断变化的世界，联合国需要继续进行改革，进一步提高效能。世界和平和发展需要联合国，而联合国的成功有赖于各成员国的支持与合作。中国愿同广大成员国一道，旅行联合国宪章的义务，为加强联合国在世界事务中的作用做出自己的努力。
Like the entire international community, the United Nations is faced with unprecedented opportunities and extraordinary challenges. In order to better adapt to an ever-changing world, the United Nations needs continue our reform and further improve efficiency. World peace and development needs the United Nations while the success of the UN depends on the support and cooperation of all its member states. Together with many other UN member states, China is ready to fulfill the duties prescribed in the UN Charter and to contribute its share to a strengthened role of this organization in the world affairs.
