1. In the 1760s, a scientist in England found a way to put steam engines
and wheels together.
在18世纪60年代，一个英国的科学家发明了一种将蒸汽机和轮子装配起来的方法。
(1) the 1760s “18世纪60年代”,也就是1760年~1769年。
(2) to put…together “装配，组成，凑成”。动词不定式在这里作后置定语，修饰a way。
2. During the 1830s, countries all over the world started to build railways.
在19世纪30年代，全世界的国家开始建造铁路。
（1）all over the world全世界
（2）start to do sth. 开始做某事。动词不定式作宾语。
3. People built many train stations to help passengers get on and off the trains easily.
人们建造很多火车站来帮助乘客容易地上下火车。
(1)to help动词不定式作状语，做某件事的目的所在。
例如：
Our teacher drew a picture to help us understand it. 我们老师画了一张图来帮助我们理解它。
(2)get on and off意为“上下……”。
