Welcome to the Exhibition  Hall of CTGU  
这里是三峡大学风雨兼程数十年及教学科研成果的一个缩影。下面由我来为大家分别作一介绍。
It is a miniature of the development and  achievements in scientific research of CTGU during the past ten years。Then I will introduce to you one by one.
来到展区首先大家可以看到的是这样四张校园名片。
Here are four typical cards of our university.

▲第一张是我校校名——三峡大学。取自毛泽东同志的笔迹组合体。下方是我校的校徽——扬帆索源。扬水电特色之帆，索三峡文化之源，道出了三峡大学校徽的潜在寓意。
The first one is the school name  ---CTGU, or "Sanxia Daxue" in Chinese.
This is a combination of Chairman Mao's handwriting, strong and powerful, outstanding and eminent, which embodies not only artistic style but also authority.
The following is the logo of CTGU: setting sail and pursuing knowledge.
The symbolic meaning of the logo is roaming in the sea of books and pursuing knowledge, and all the teachers and students will do their best to realize their dreams. The bright green color stands for the development of hydroelectric engineering and the Three Gorges Culture.

▲ “求索”是三峡大学的校训，它出自于爱国诗人屈原的著名诗句“路漫漫其修远兮，吾将上下而求索”，著名的书法家欧阳中石先生为这一校训亲笔题字。
CTGU motto, "Qiu Suo", means "exploring and studying".
The word "Qiu Suo" comes from the Li sao by Qu Yuan, a famous patriotic poet. He wrote: "Lu man man qi xiu yuan xi, wu jiang shang xia er qiu suo". It means "It is a long way for us to go before we reach the goal but I will try my best to explore". The inscription was written by Ouyang Zhongshi, a famous calligraphist in China.

This is the location of CTGU. We can see from the picture that CTGU features a large area, a advantageous afforestation. Along the Yangzte river are three colleges of clinical medicine(Yichang Central Hospital, Renhe Hospital and Gezhouba Central Hospital ) and the People's Hospital, which offers medical clinical practice for our interns.
从历史沿革图中可以看出三峡大学是由湖北三峡学院与武汉水利电力大学2000年6月合并组建而成的一所综合性的大学，而最早的办学历史可以追溯到1923年的“博医技专”。
China Three Gorges University (CTGU) was founded on the 29th of June 2000 in Yichang City. CTGU is a comprehensive university, which comprises the former Wuhan University of Hydraulic & Electric Engineering/Yichang and Hubei Sanxia Univeristy. Among its colleges, the history of the Medical College can be traced back to 1923.

展览大厅分为两个部分：第一部分为历史渊源，即三峡大学合并组建前的情况。第二部分为新的历程，即三峡大学合并组建后的情况。
The Exhibition hall can be divided into two parts: the first part is about the historical origions of CTGU .The second part is the introduction of the new journey after amalgamation.

· 1923年中华医学会传教部上海会议决定采纳英国基督教传教医生乔治·哈登的建议创建“博医技专”在安徽安庆诞生。1949年湖北省政府会议同意成立湖北公医专科学校，栗秀真担任校长。宜昌医专以医学教育为核心，建校以来为湖北省各地培养了大批优秀的人才，有力促进了当地医疗卫生事业的发展。
By accepting British missionary doctor George Harden’s advice, the Chinese Medical Association set up a medical vocational college in Anqing , Anhui province in 1923. And in 1949, the government of Hubei province agreeed to set up Hubei Medical College, and Li Xiuzhen was appointed the president. Yichang Medical College mainly focused on medical education, and had made great contributions to the development of local medical treatment and public health.

▲宜昌师范高等专科学校的办学与发展情况。
The following introduction is about Yichang Normal College
1946年9月，抗日战争胜利后，为安置600余名曾在四川荣昌师范学校学习的保育生，国民党当局的湖北省教育厅确定在宜都和武穴各建一所师范学校来安置这批学生学习，宜都师范学校便是其中的一所，梁端麟为首任校长。
After the victory over the Anti-Japanese war in September,1946, Yichang Normal College was set to help the 600 students who were studying in the former Sichuan Rongchang Normal School to continue their study. Yidu Normal School was one of the two schools in Hubei province established by the then Kuomintang authorities. Liang  Dianlin was appointed the first president.

· 1958年秋，宜昌师范学校升格为宜昌师范专科学校，并特邀请革命教育家徐特立为学校题写校名。宜昌师范专科学校成立以来为湖北省培养了大批优秀的教育人才。
·   In the autumn of 1958, Yichang Normal School was upgraded as Yichang Normal College and  invited famous educationist Xu Teli to inscribe the name of school and from then on, it had cultivated sufficient number of excellent educational personnel for our country.

宜 昌 职 业 大 学 的 办 学 与 发 展 情 况
Introduction of Yichang College
1978年9月19日，宜昌市遵照湖北省革委会的指示，成立了宜昌市高等专科班，设置了电机电器和工业微生物两个大专专业。
On Sep 19th 1978, Yichang Advanced Industrial Training School ,with two majors on Electrical Machine and Industrial Microbiology were founded by the command of Hubei Revolutionary Committee .

▲在不断扩大办学规模的同时十分注意提高教学质量，宜昌职业大学是当时宜昌市实施“科教兴市”战略中重点建设和发展的地方性高校。
The college emphasized on expansion of the school and the quality of education.
Then Yichang College was an provincially key university in the project of “Strategy of Revitalizing the City through Science and Education”

· 湖北三峡学院的组建（1996.6——2000.6）
· The Amalgamation of Hubei Sanxia University （1996.6——2000.6）
1995年3月6日，原国家教委批准由宜昌医学高等专科学校、宜昌师范高等专科学校、宜昌职业大学合并组建湖北三峡学院。湖北三峡学院1996年6月正式挂牌。中共中央政治局常委、国务院副总理李岚清同志欣然为三峡学院题词。湖北省副省长韩南鹏为湖北三峡学院成立庆典揭牌。
On Mar.6th 1995. Hubei Sanxia University was formed by the combination of  Yichang Medical College, Yichang Normal College and Yichang College. In June,1996, it was officially inaugurated. Li Lanqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau wrote a inscription for Hubei Sanxia University, and Han Nanpeng the deputy governor of Hubei Province at that time announced the establishment of this university.

学院大力加强教学基础建设，注重对学生的理论和实践能力的培养，注重教学中学生的参与，并且常年聘请外籍教师。学院在实现向合格的综合性本科学院的转变过程中得到了全面发展。
The school payed great attention to the infrastructure construction and the cultivation of both the practical and empirical ability (theoretical and practical ability).It is undergoing a all-dimensional development in the direction to be a comprehensive university

▲葛洲坝水电工程学院
成立于1978年，学院以建设水电特色专业为目标，成立以来为国家的水电事业做出了巨大贡献，不仅培养了大批的水电精英，同时也取得了一批重要的科研成果。
Gezhouba Institute of Hydroelectric Engineering was set up in 1978. It features in Hydro-engineering projects which have managed to contribute to the national hydroelectric industry and cultivated numerous elites on hydroelectric and achieved some paramount scientific research strengthens
▲1996年学院与武汉武汉水利电力大学合并组建为新的武汉水利电力大学，并于同年正式通过专家组预审以及国家审察正式迈人了“211工程”重点建设的百所大学行列。同时宜昌校区也进入了重点大学的建设行列。学校成立以来大力发展科技、文化以及对外交往，为三峡大学的建设奠定了坚实的基础。
It was in 1996 that the institute was combined with Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering and thus formed the New Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering. In the same year, it became one the universities of “211” Project. And New Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering/Yichang was also brought into this project. Its accomplishments in science and technology and the cultural exchanges projects have laid a solid foundation for the construction and development of Three Goreges University .

This is the second part of our exhibition hall: uprising in the hydroelectric capital and worldfamous tourism proven city.
2000年6月29日，是三峡大学人得以骄傲的历史日子。三峡大学正式挂牌。省政府原副省长王少阶和市委原书记孙志刚亲临为三峡大学揭牌。目前学校占地面积广阔，校园环境优美，学科门类齐全，师资力量雄厚，在上级领导的殷切关怀下，学校正在蓬勃发展。
The day 29th June, 2000 witnessed the proud and memorable accasion for the people of CTGU ,which was officially inaugurated by the former provincial vice- governor Wang Shaojie and former secretary of a municipal committee Sun Zhigang . CTGU boasts a spacious campus area with beautiful surroundings, a wide range of disciplines and abundant qualified teachers and complete faculty. Under the concern of the superior officials, CTGU is on the way to flourish.
学校现有23个学院，57个本科专业，涵盖理、工、文、医、经、管、法、教育等8大学科门类，其中国家级特色专业建设点4个，省级本科品牌专业9个；现有32个硕士学位授权点涵盖12个学院，7个工程硕士领域，35个湖北省立项建设博士、硕士点，有3个一级学科省级重点学科。学校现有全日制在校普通本科生18546人，硕士研究生1640人，留学生537人。
CTGU consists of 23 colleges. There are 57 specialties for undergraduate students, which cover 8 fields including science engineering, arts, medicine, economics , management ,law and education .4 of these are national distinctive specialties and 9 are provincial brand specialties. The university offers 32 specialties for postgraduate students covering 12 colleges, including 7 for masters in engineering. There are also 35 specialties for Masters programs and Doctoral program presently developing.  CTGU has a large number of enrolled students, comprising 18,546 full-time undergraduate students, 1,641 postgraduate students , 537 international students.

▲三峡大学的建设和发展受到了各级领导、政府部门和社会各界人士的亲切关怀与支持。学校与国家水电管理部门有着长期的联系，湖北省把三峡大学列为“十一五”重点建设大学之一；宜昌市把三峡大学建设作为“十一五”重点建设工程。  
Overwhelming supports from various levels are appreciated throughout the process of the university growth. CTGU has kept a long-standing relationship with the central ministry. Recently, the planning and developing issue of CTGU has been incorporated into the “Tenth five-year Plan” and “Eleven five-year Plan” at the provincial and municipal level.

   The Introduction of Discipline Construction

学校坚持以重点学科建设为龙头，以优势特色学科建设为突破口，秉持水电特色，整合学科力量，优化学科结构与布局，全面提升学科水平。学校现有1个湖北长江三峡滑坡国家野外科学观测研究站、1个教育部重点实验室、1个教育部工程中心等14个省部级及以上重点实验室（工程中心、人文社科基地）；25个省级重点学科（按二级学科计），4个湖北省优势特色学科，建有47个校级科研机构。2008年，学校成为博士学位授予权立项建设单位

CTGU implements the integration of the discipline construction with hydroelectric industry and local economy   exerting the leading disciplines and hydraulic function and reallocating discipline resources and divisions. The university has one Three Gorges Research station on the Yangtze River for landslide; one key laboratory for geological Hazard in the reservoir Area of Three Gorges; 14 provincial key laboratories (engineering centre and research based on the humanities and social sciences );25 provincial key disciplines (counted on second-class disciplines ,) 4 provincial disciplines, and 47 scientific research institutes. In 2008 , CTGU passed through the pre –evaluation of the newly project for doctoral stations and on the way of constructing the centers for doctors.

▲省级重点学科中一级学科有：土木工程（结构工程、岩土工程、桥梁与隧道工程、供热供燃通风及空调工程、防灾减灾工程及防护工程、市政工程）、水利工程（水文学及资源、水利学及河流动力学、水工结构工程、水利水电工程、港口海岸及近海工程）、电气工程（电机与电器、电力系统及其自动化、高电压与绝缘技术、电力电子与电力传动、电工理论与新技术）、管理科学与工程；二级学科有：应用数学、文艺学、计算机应用技术、药理学、机械制造及其自动化、生态学、免疫学、马克思主要中国研究。
Hubei provincial key and First-class disciplines include: Civil Engineering(Structure Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering, Hazard Prevention and Reduction Engineering and Protection Engineering, Municipal Engineering).Hydraulic-Engineering(Hydrology and Water resources, Hydrology and River Dynamics, Hydraulic Structure Engineering, Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering , Port ,Coastal and offshore Engineering ).Electrical Engineering (Electric Machines and Appliances, Power System and Automation, High Voltage and Insulation Technology , Power Electronics and Power Transmission, Electrician theory and New Technology ) and Management Science and Engineering;
8 Second–class Disciplines includes: Applied Mathematics, Philosophy of Literature, Computer Application and Technology, Pharmacology, Mechanical Manufacture & Automation, Ecology. Immunology. Research on Marxism of Chinalization

▲我校于1996年开始招收硕士研究生，1998年开始招收培养博士研究生，目前我校已有32个硕士学位授予点涵盖12个学院，在校研究生1640余人，硕士生导师423人。
(jin)CTGU began to recruit postgraduate candidates in 1996.In 1998,it started to recruit PhD candidates. There are 32 specialties for postgraduate students covering 12 colleges with1400 full-time postgraduate students and 423 postgraduate's tutors.
(lee)Our univerity started to recruit Master degree candidate from 1996, and Doctoral candidate recuriting began in 1998. there are 32 specialties for postgraduate students covering 11 colleges, and 1400 postgraduate and 423 postgraduate's tutors.

▲学校大力加强科学研究，科技成果不断涌现。近几年来，学校获省级部级以上科研奖励117项，2007年学校获国家科学技术进步奖名列全国高校第26位。2007年以来，每年获得国家基金项目近30项，特别是2009年，获得国家杰出青年基金项目2项。接下来的三块展版中罗列了部分获省（部）级一等奖以上科研奖励的情况及国家级科研项目名称。

A number of research fruits have been harvested in recent years. The university has undertaken and completed 117 research items at the ministry or provincial level. In 2007, CTGU has ranked the 26th in the reward of National Science and Technology progress. Since 2007, the university has endeavored over 30 national fund project. Particularly in 2009 , 2 projects sponsored by the Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists

三峡工程明渠导流及通航研究与运行实践获得国家科技进步二等奖和湖北省科技进步一等奖。
Here comes four exhibition boards displaying the projects by chich we have gained second prize in National Science and Technology Progress Award .
Study and operation practice on open channel diversion and navigation of the Three Gorges Project placed second in the National Science and Technology Progress Award and won first prize in the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

该成果研究了船模比尺效应及其航行的特性，应用航行参数和水力参数相结合，实现了通航水流条件定量分析和综合评价，解决了复杂水流的航线的选择、提高通航流量、汛期明渠冲淤对通航影响以及长江截流期截流与明渠通航相互影响等问题。

岩体开挖力学效应及锚固工程质量检测新技术获国家科技进步二等奖。

▲学校已有600多项技术开发成果被应用于各个行业领域，尤其在三峡水电工程、南水北调工程等国家重点工程建设中发挥了重大的作用。
There are over 600 technological achievements being applied to various industries , particularly in the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Project, Divert Water from the South to the North Project and other national key project .

植被混凝土护坡绿化技术在长江三峡工程、清江隔河岩工程、水布垭工程、高坝洲工程中广泛应用（也就是人们所说的石头上长草）。
