Chapter 5 Some Days; Never a dull moment
一 Learning aims:
1．朗读诗歌，注意朗读的节奏、从模仿朗读到情感优美地朗读。
2．提高对诗歌的朗诵技巧，并在朗诵过程中体会诗歌所蕴含的内容。

1 . terribly ad. very 十分，极
eg. He speaks Chinese terribly well. 他的汉语讲得非常好。
Simon’s terribly tired. 西蒙累极了。
2. lively a. full of life 活泼的，活跃的，栩栩如生的
eg. A lively person is full of life and is always doing things.
一个生气勃勃的人，总是充满活力并且总是在做事。
live a. 活的，生动的，实况转播的
living a. 活的
3 . whole n. all of sth. ; a thing that is complete 全体；整体
辨析：all, whole 与every
all 指各个个体之和，它所修饰的名词前可以有定冠词、指示代词、物主代词及基数词等限定词。
eg. all the time 一直 all that morning 那一上午 all my life 我的一生
All five men are hard workers. 他们五个人都是吃苦耐劳的人。
whole 指“完整无缺的”一个整体。修饰名词时需在whole 前加定冠词、指示代词或物主代词等限定词。
eg. the whole time 一直 that whole morning 那一上午 my whole life 我的一生
whole 前用定冠词the 时，后面不能接复数名词或专有名词，如不能说the whole students 或the whole China，应为the whole of the students 或the whole of China （或all China ）。whole 前可用不定冠词a，其后接单数可数名词。
eg. a whole day 一整天
every 后接单数可数名词，指许多人或事物的全体。
eg. Every man knows. 每个人都知道。
4 . stone deaf : completely unable to hear 完全聋的
eg. Even if you speak loudly to Mr . Li, he can’t hear 扣u because he 15 stone deaf. 无论你说多大声，李先生都听不到的，因为他是全聋。
5 . cheerful a. happy 愉快的，高兴的
eg. He is cheerful in spite of his illness. 他虽然有病，但是情绪很好。
cheer v. 欢呼，喝彩愉快，欢呼
6 . active a . always busy and able to do a lot of things 积极的，主动的；能起作用
eg. He is an active member of the club. 他是俱乐部的积极分子。
take an active part ( in ）积极参加
eg. She always took an active part in organizing different parties when she was at university. 她在读大学的时候，总是很积极地组织各种各样的晚会。
activity n. 活跃，活动性，行动
7 . mind doing sth. 介意做某事
eg. He doesn’t mind taking care of these old people. 他不介意照顾这些老人。
Would you mind doing…? 你来做……好吗？
eg. Would you mind helping me? 你能来帮我一下吗？
