afford用法

（1）买得起，经济上担负得起 直接跟名词或动词不定式作宾语，常和情态动词 can 、could 或 be able to 连用。
He can afford the apartment. 他能买得起这套住房。
We can’t afford to buy such an expensive car．我们买不起这么昂贵的汽车。
（2）抽出；放弃，丢下 后面直接跟表示时间的名词作宾语 I can't afford an hour for lunch. 我抽不出一小时吃午饭。
I can't afford three weeks away from work. 我无法丢下三星期的时间不去工作。
（3）提供，给与 此时可以跟双宾语 The transaction afforded him a good profit.这笔交易使他赚了一大笔。 afford 常接在 can ;could ; be able to 后面。 后面常接不定式，构成句型 afford to do sth 担负的起，抽得出（时间）
At last, we can not afford the house. 最终我们还是买不起哪所房子。
We cannot afford to waste time and energy.. 我们不能浪费时间和精力。
