2、terial This is the fifth period of Unit 8, which is also the most complicated part as I think. Its a Reading Comprehensive Skilled Calss. So reading is certainly the key point.IV. Analysis of Teaching and Learning Objectives After this period of learning, 1. most ss will be able to read the passages
3、 fluently and describe the neighborhood briefly. 2. two thirds of the ss can follow the reading tasks and answer the questions; and one third of the ss can learn about a reading skill: searching useful information quickly. 3. the ss should learn to help keep their neighborhood clean and quiet.V. 4、lysis of Teaching Key Points and Difficulties 1. Key point: By acquaring new vocabulary, about 70% ss are able to have an overall understanding of the passges in 2b. 2. Difficulties: In this period, it may be hard for the ss to search effective information while reading. So teaching some reading ski
5、lls is necessary.VI. Analysis of Teaching Methods 1. Task-based teaching method; 2. Groupwork and cooperative method; 3. Ss-centered method.VII. Analysis of Teaching Procedures This teaching period consists of 6 steps. Step 1 Warming up, including the duty report and revision.Step 2 Learning, focusi
6、ng on checking the ss preparation before class.Step 3 Lead-in, doing 2a as a brainstorming activity in groupwork.Step 4 Presentating, accomplishing the reading tasks. Task 1: Fast Reading. The teacher should guide the ss to describe the pictures to guess something about the passages. Then scan the p
7、assages and match the them with the pictures. Task 2: Listening: Ask the ss to close their books. Then listen to the tape and fill in the blanks of the passages. Three ss can show their answers on the blackboard while listening. And give comments after checking the answers.Task 3: Careful Reading. D
8、ivided the class into three big groups. Read the passages again silently and then discuss the answers of 2c. G1: Passage 1 Anna Q1-2 G2: Passage 2 John Q3-4 G3: Passage 3 Lisa Q5-6 (Add Q6: Why does Lisa like the library?) The teacher should praise and encourage the good groups.Step 5 Practicing, re
9、telling with the given key words and pictures. (Retelling is a good way to help the ss get a deeper understanding of the passages. A group competition among small groups of six ss is also useful because the ss can learn to solve problems in a group through discussion and cooperation.)Step 6 Progress
10、, testing and homework.VIII. Teaching Feedback In this teaching period, reading is absolutely important. So I focus more on the reading tasks. The good points are as follows:1. I have recomposed the material by adding some extra activities like brainstorming, listening during reading and retelling.
11、This is also an embodiment of the New Curricular Standard of English. 2. I realize the importance of the ss activities and dare to loosen their minds and hands.The disadvantages are as follows: 1. The instruction of learning methods is not enough. 2. The design of reading part is a little formalistic. Some of the steps may not be feasible. 3. This period focuses more on the reading skills but ignores the language points. 2
