就是发上来给大家看看，就当攒人品、造福吧。恩觉得写得好您就拿去看，觉得写得不好就忽略我好啦。首先感谢多次帮助我的 @张洋(231216758) ，我爱死你=。=。

是这样，我申请了香港大学建筑院的城市规划专业的授课式研究生，2年学制（MSc in Urban Planning），而且我是真心很想去这个专业。所以现在也算初步圆梦了。
（由于家庭原因等，我只申请了香港，有港大、港科技、港中文、港理工、港城市，都拿到offer。PS基本上都是一个思路，但是最后一段有更改，因为最后一段一般写“why school & why program”，所以一定要根据每个学校所申请的不同program修改自己的文章。）

我发我的PS，主要是给各位借鉴个思路。我的思路中，最主要的一方面就是：PS以一个主题为主线，然后PS中每一段都要多多少少提到该主题，使文章成为一个整体。

恩，我写的肯定不是最好的，大牛多了去了。不过怎么说呢，每个人申请的时候，PS都是挺难的一关，总是不知道怎么写。所以，有了别人的PS看看，总是件好事。

但我觉得，我能成功，还有很多其他因素。1、面试认真准备，面试后为了表达真心，发了Thank you letter给课程主任；2、材料准备全面，各种奖状、PS、CV、Portfolio等；3、自己全面了解了该program，以及和申请HK有关的一切（上港大官网、寄托等网站），这样不论走到申请的哪个阶段，我都心中有数，不会太慌张。

反正说白了，申请是自己的事情，我觉得想做就要做好，不然不如拉到。

行吧不废话了，上PS了。

Personal Statement

Standing on the playground with arms akimbo and sweat dripping, I could not help breathing heavily, yet feeling proud that I strained every nerve to run and broke my record again. Deep love of track and field sports has sustained me to keep running every day. Although suffering from exhaustion, I love to experience the process of holding on to the end. People do not always understand my passion for running. It may be because that they can see my effort on the track, but can seldom know how many valuable lessons running has taught me.
Much like my insistence on running, my striving for academic excellence in the undergraduate study is endless. Majoring in Resources Environment and the Management of Urban and Rural Planning (REMURP) at Wuhan University, one of the top comprehensive universities in China, I have systematically studied foundation knowledge and applied skills in a wide range of fields, namely Geographical Sciences, Natural Resources, Geographic Information System, Remote Sensing, Mapping and Surveying, and Urban and Rural Planning. REMURP is a highly multidisciplinary subject. Therefore, in the initial stage of learning specialised courses, I felt puzzled how to cross the threshold. However, such difficulty did not frighten me. Persevering in working hard is to my study what holding out to the end is to my everyday running. Being aware of the obstacles I need to overcome, I got up earlier to memorise formulas, took notes more earnestly, digested lessons and asked questions regularly, and undertook more practicals. Putting more efforts, I gradually mastered all the courses, which resulted in the fact that my GPA and academic ranking had kept ascending over the past three years.
However, my academic progress also brought me trouble, as I could not tell clearly which particular area I would love to commit myself to in the future. Then in junior year I finally found the answer when I took the course Urban Planning Principle, in which my passion for urban planning was ignited. After learning the theoretical knowledge, I delved deeply into case studies of existent planning projects, analysing their problems on the basis of my acquired knowledge and operating schemes to improve them. In practice, despite the complexity, I felt inspiring because I could indeed make use of what I had learnt to resolve issues related to urban development. Actually, on account of the fact that Beijing, my hometown, is a high-density city mixed with locals and outsiders, I have already noticed that massive urbanisation has created uncurbed sprawl of cities and population explosions in China. Such pressing circumstances are now imposing a continuous negative influence on our life and the image of China, calling for urgent actions to be taken at once to deal with them. Thus, the course Urban Planning Principle exactly gave me the chance to equip myself with knowledge and skills needed to realise my aim of building China into a sustainable country. Beyond theory study, I also paid serious attention to practice and successfully completed a planning project of a residential district on my own. Though without any experiences, I was totally fascinated by the planning process, as it was the first time that I could independently handle the professional design work. I grasped applied skills of the software CorelDRAW all by myself, drew and revised drafts for more than ten times due to dissatisfaction, perfected details continually during the whole process and finally accomplished my design, which eventually won me a high mark. Not a single work in this project was easy, but I pulled through them all just as I did so often in running. Meanwhile, this experience allowed me to fully perceive the charm of urban planning, which greatly deepened my understanding of this subject and further strengthened my determination to commit to it.
After that, I was also involved in courses such as Urban Environment Analysis and Planning and Design of Land Resource, but they did not satisfy my thirst for knowledge and practice. Driven by strong academic initiative, this year I assembled a five-member team and applied for a research project to investigate the existing problems of Wuhan public toilets, as improving the current situation was especially meaningful to sustainable planning and development of the place. At first, when I was preparing materials, unexpected trouble occurred. There was hardly any support data, which meant that we even could not carry out the most basic work. Though frustrated, we exerted ourselves for solutions and finally obtained some data from a relevant research due to my teacher’s help. What’s more, after abundant researches and analyses, I decided to improve the existing model to apply it to our project, which was proven to be effective. Then, everything was on track. We mainly focused on analysing insufficient number of toilets and unsuitable proportion of men’s to women’s, utilising quantitative and qualitative methods. Equally important, we made several suggestions. Based on fruitful research results, I, as the first author, wrote the paper “Analysis of the Problems of Public Toilets in Wuhan” with my teammates. Later, I am extremely elated that the paper has been published in a national academic journal called Market Modernisation. Overall, this exciting experience has highly promoted my critical thinking skills. Also, it has brought me the fantastic feeling of running in an “academic race”, accompanied by challenges and followed by success.
Longing to enrich my experience in urban planning, I sent my curriculum vitae to XXXX this summer and obtained a precious internship opportunity. Working as an assistant designer, I joined a large-scale project called “XXXX”. At first, I followed my director to familiarise myself with the project and the basic skills. Then, after making every endeavor to enhance my professional ability, I was trusted to shoulder main tasks such as overall planning as well as earlier-stage project investigation and survey. During the internship, I seized every opportunity and made attempts to experience the life of a real planner. The positive comments I received from my director and colleagues have significantly solidified my aspiration of becoming a planner.（XXXX不写出来了，有原因。）
Nevertheless, I have always sought for comprehensive personal development in various aspects. A girl who is outgoing and independent, who is capable of leadership, who is versatile and excels at Electrical Organ and Drum Set, is always in the spotlight. During undergraduate period, I took every chance to get myself exposed to various extracurricular activities. Among them, the one that benefited me most was the “Youth Leader Summit of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan Students”, in which I played a leading role. The conference has built a bridge of friendship, and has now become a regular event in Wuhan University. As for me, not only did I improve my leadership and managing abilities through holding the conference, but also the in-depth communication with those youth leaders helped me understand more about culture and society of Hong Kong. It has ignited my interests in this fantastic city, Hong Kong, and a further education there.
Till now, every step I take is in pursuit of my aim, regardless of any difficulties. I spare no efforts to study, and never content myself with what I have already got. This is the valuable lessons running has taught me, and they have gradually strengthened my resolve to dedicate myself to urban sustainable development.
Undoubtedly in seeking advanced knowledge and skills in urban development and planning, HKU’s MSc programme in Urban Planning serves me well. I have been deeply attracted by two appealing features of this programme. The first one is that it is a multidisciplinary programme, with a wide range of well-organised core courses such as Urban Development Theories, Planning Sustainable Cities and Regions, and Urban Design and Place Making, which will enable me to cross the boundaries of various subjects and cultivate me into an all-rounded planner. The second one is that the curriculum is completed by taking part in not only courses but also workshops and field trips, offering me plenty of opportunities to put what I have learnt in class into real-world practice. Both of the features are highly similar to my undergraduate study. Therefore, since I have already formed solid foundations in these fields, I have great confidence to continue my outstanding performance here. Besides, the specialist planning component, which allows students to develop an area of specialism in a sub-field of urban planning such as transport, environment or physical planning, has caught my eye. It is really a great chance for me to go deeper in a more specific and professional field that I am passionate about. Also, since in Hong Kong your programme is the only one that is recognised by professional institutions locally as well as throughout the European Union, I will gain a huge edge in achieving my goal of becoming a qualified planner by having an HKU education on my resume. In the meantime, I am extremely eager to experience the multi-cultural atmosphere and brand new study life in HKU, as this research-led comprehensive university has just celebrated its 100th anniversary. On the whole, I am pretty sure that I am now well prepared to start a new academic journey at your esteemed university and will seize every exciting opportunity opening up in Hong Kong.
