Last Sunday, I accompanied two of my foreign friends, Tom and Mary, around Beijing so that they could get a feel for the city. We began by touring Nanluoguxiang, which is known for its traditional Chinese architecture. I know the area very well so I acted as their tour guide! For lunch, we tried some Beijing fried sauce noodles. Tom in particular thought that they were delicious. Soon after lunch, we went to Houhai to skate on the frozen lake. Last Friday, my e-pal Tom came to Beijing. Knowing that he is interested in Chinese culture, I arranged a special tour for him.
On Saturday morning, we visited the Forbidden City. Tom was amazed at this splendid palace and took a great many pictures. Later in the afternoon, we went to Laoshe Teahouse to enjoy Beijing Opera. Although Tom didn’t understand the language, he showed great interest in it.
To let Tom experience the unique Hutong culture, we had a Hutong tour on Sunday morning. Sitting in the pedicab for the first time, Tom got really excited. He was also very curious about the life of the people there, so we visited a family and was luckily invited to have lunch with them. After the delicious meal, we went shopping in Silk Street. There Tom bought many gifts and then we left with great satisfaction.
Later Tom told me that his trip to Beijing was really unforgettable. (134 words)

Last week, I received an exchange student Mike from the US. The first day, I went to pick him up at the Capital Airport and we chatted happily along the way. In order to get him to know Chinese culture, I prepared a series of activities for him.For example, on the second day, we paid a visit to the famous Maoer Hutong, where we had an interesting rickshaw tour. Mike felt very excited about the driver’s vivid introduction to the history of Hutongs. The following day, I took him to Mei Lanfang Grand Theatre to watch Beijing Opera. Although he could understand few words, he was still amazed to see the colorful costumes and the unique way of performing. When it was time for him to return to the US, I sent him some gifts with Chinese elements, such as an Opera’s mask and a Chinese knot. He was very grateful for what I had done and said he was really impressed by the diversified Chinese culture.
From this experience, I felt proud of being a Chinese and felt it my duty to introduce Chinese culture to the world. （189 words）

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Li Hua. I have the honor of being your guide tomorrow. Now I'd like to give you a brief introduction to our tour.
We’ll meet at the school gate at 8:00 am and set off by bus. As the old Chinese saying goes, “He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man”. The first place we will visit is that world famous spot. When you are standing on the wall, you will feel amazed at this man-made wonder on earth. After two hours there, we’ll leave for a snack street where varieties of foods will be waiting for you to try.
The afternoon tour will begin from the Summer Palace at about 2:00 pm. You can take a boat to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the garden and feel free to look around there until 4:00 pm. In the evening, we will watch a wonderful Beijing opera which will let you experience a real Chinese culture. After the show, we’ll return to the school at about 9:00 pm.

When school was over, we took the subway home. where my parents had already prepared a rich family dinner for Tim. We enjoyed ourselves a lot, eating and chatting about whatever subjects that interested US. The next day, I acted as a guide, showing Tim around the most famous scenic spots in Beijing, such as the Great Wall and the Bird’s Nest. Wherever he went, he had some photos taken to help him memorize this unforgettable trip to China. When finally the time came for US to say good—bye, I gave Tim a kite as a souvenir.
